Nowt wrong with Five Guys burgers, they're cracking. Bit pricey for what they are, but you do get fuckloads of crisps.

Paid a recent visit to Five Guys and had mixed opinions. Granted it was a top quality 'fast food' burger and there was nothing pretentious about it (no gourmet, pulled pork, brioche rolls etc) but it was vastly overpriced. I was also a touch surprised by the fries portion sizing...not complaining but the small size would have served 2 and the regular size was huge, I had the cajun option and really enjoyed them. I would go back as it certainly hit the spot but would feel I was being a tad shafted at the same time.

I'm also someone who would say I'm on the five guys bandwagon. I was keen to try it out having heard good things and I would say I did enjoy it, but it left me unable to move. Sadly it is stupidly expensive, though as others have said - they are generous with the fries. Went for the cajun option of course. As for the burger I went for the pricey bacon burger with cheese, plus lettuce, tomato, fired onions and mayo toppings. There were two beef burgers that looked about burger king wopper size each. I think I got about two thirds through and I felt like pretty full and felt like I needed a lie down for a week. If you ate one of these things pretty regularly I think your heart would just cease functioning. Appearance wise they're pretty sloppy/greasy looking. I'll probably get one again in the near future, but probably more for some kind of occasion/meetup with friends. I got mine as a take away and I think for £15 it was a lot really.

Yeah, I had the cheese and bacon option but with mushrooms and jalapeños added. One thing I did actually like was the fact that whilst it was a pretty crammed burger and looked a bit messy when you opened up the foil surprisingly it held together really well and wasn't messy to eat...I really hate how some burgers just fall apart as soon as you pick them up. The one I went in at Cardiff was pretty heaving but it has just recently opened so it may quieten down once the novelty wears off.

I'm in cardiff also, so that's the one I went too, there's been a fair amount of buzz about it. And yea, I agree that the burger did hold together pretty well. Keen to try that grape fanta now after reading this thread..

I'm actually in Cardiff tomorrow....the temptation may prove too much. On a related note have you tried The Grazing Shed? I used to go there a fair amount but had a couple of ropey visits so not been for ages, another place that isn't cheap for what's on offer.

People in London still queue around the street for Five Guys and they've been here ages, despite vastly superior places being open. Can't imagine the novelty will wear off quickly there.

I have been to Five Guys in Bristol twice now. I was very hungover the first time and so wasn't in a fit state to judge it properly. I love burgers and am as happy with a McDonalds as a "posh" burger but I really liked Five Guys. Too expensive for what it is, but the burger tasted nice and even a small chips gives you enough to eat.

I think I prefer Atomic Burger (mainly because they will put a fried egg in the burger :datass:

) but Five Guys is within walking distance of where I live.

I've been holding out on Five Guys for a while now as it means a trip to the Trafford Centre and the prices are obviously a bit off-putting but now I feel like curiosity might be getting the better of me sooner rather than later..

Probably just as well Five Guys is so overpriced otherwise I'd be in here a couple of times a week. Great no frills burger but feel I made an elementary error by substituting the jalapeños for grilled onions today...just felt a tad too early for the peppers. Do wish they offered a selection of sauces for fries dippage rather than the ubiqitous Heinz tommy sauce pump. I'm not too stoked with the idea of another five years of Cameron but the economy must be on the up when people are willing to pay in excess of a tenner for a fast food burger and fries.

edit: be nice if you could get a cup of tea as well.

I recently tried Five Guys as well, went for the bacon cheese burger with all the toppings, and while it was nice, I agree it's overpriced for what it is, which is what would stop me going there regularly when I'm in town.

In Cardiff, I think Grazing Shed is still the best burger I've had, which I first heard about in this thread actually. Seems there's a few people from around Cardiff in here, any other recommendations to try out?

I'd imagine you have visited the New York Deli by now. Totally love the Baker Dog (hot dog) they do in there...if its made by one of the longer serving members of the team who knows what they are doing it is a thing of beauty.

Do like the Grazing Shed but get put off by the buns they use...they have a strange almost like fennel seed edge to them which overpowers everything for me.
