Making Lamb burgers with fresh mint and paprika tonight. Salt, onions, albumen, and a dusting of flour too, of course.

Five Guys and Byron do the best burgers.

I only go to McD with those £1.99 coupons they have in the Metro paper. I do like the Big Tasty and the Tastes of the World/USA range.

The best in town is Fat Hippo in Jesmond, Newcastle (with sister outlet, Hippo Underground, in town).

I strongly recommend it to any of the North East GRcaders.

http://www.fat-hippo.co.uk/

On request, they served me a Fat Hippo burger (Burger, bacon, chorizo, cheese, caramelized onions and in-house bespoke sauce) in a cronut (croissant/donut cross). I only managed 3/4 of it, but holy shitballs it was heavenly.

Oh, and as a starter they do deep-fried Gherkins. I don't even like Gherkins that much, but they're immense.

strawberry float it, I might have to go this weekend. :datass:

Oh my! I think the North-East contingent of GRcade needs to meet up there!

I'd be up for that. Though we might need some other people too, otherwise it's just a date.

Bit of a curveball recommendation, but there is a market behind the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank where there is a stall called 'The Frenchie' selling Duck Confit burgers. If you're ever around there, give it a try. Really, really good.

Just focus on the image on the blackboard, that's exactly what they end up looking like.

I think the blue or goats cheese would be a bit rich for my tastes, but you can't what a big sweet bun full of buttery duck. :datass:

Damn right. You were nearly crying with happiness. Plus the coctails are cool. And they offer Irn-Bru as a soft drink!

Those chips were divine. Normal and sweet potato (with skins on I think), and bacon rain.

I want to go to there.

Not sure on some of them, but the fries I like to get are a mix of sweet potato and normal potato and have jalapenos, hot sauce, baconnaise, crispy fried onions, and normal fried onions on them. It's called True Romance fries.

Here's the menu, and they usually have a special burger and a special cocktail each month:

There's a really nice place in Cardiff called The Grazing Shed. Fantastic burgers there, Falsey should be able to verify the quality.

Holy shitballs.

I like the idea of mixing potato and sweet potato fries, and the toppings look/sound amazing.

I'm (predictably) making burgers tonight now. Short on time so just got some big fat rump steak burgers, I have some chorizo and I'm going to melt some mozzarella on top. Served with sweet potato wedges and coleslaw.
