I'll give it a go on EA Access to see if it's as overrated as I remember. Don't get me wrong, it's good and all but dissapointing after Takedown.

Yeah I'd agree with that. I've just remembered that I actually really liked Need for Speed Most Wanted which was basically BP so maybe I'll think differently.

I'm sure this guy said he's retiring from Twitter at the end of 2018.

Can't wait.

Paradise was shite.

3>2>1>>>>>>paradise.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Of note, this is the first time Big Surf Island will be playable on PC.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

You look at the amount of work that’s gone into Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot...and then EA.

As someone who spent too much time playing Burnout Paradise, I completely agree.

I feel the bar for remasters has justifiably been moved up several notches in the last few year because of some great examples of teams spending time and effort to give fans what they want which is games that push current hardware so if this is just a remake with pretty much the same graphics it's going to look lacklustre.

I don't mind remasters as a concept if they put in the work but this doesn't seem to fit that bill and this will be a rental from me.

I hate the way straight ports are called remasters now. There should be some certified things that have to included to be able to call it a remaster. It's like demos are called betas now.

Yeah I've noticed that too. I can't remember the game but I'm sure one or two of these ports have even been referred to as remakes. Which is just false advertising.

Regarding beta/demo, I agree that it's stupid but beta comes across to people as something exclusive that they can boast they were a part of, like some elite club. Which marketing people must love.

It would be nice if they could decide on a standard.
Maybe the word remaster should only be used if a game has had substantial work into refining the controls, upgraded graphics and fixing as many other problems still left with the games. A company that puts in 3 years with massive input from the fans should be rewarded more than a company that just does the bare minimum needed to get a 360/ps3 game running on new hardware without any improvements.

Eurogamer has awarded an "Essential" rating to the remastered game :o .

I dunno, though... I get the impression that it's great if you're of the mindset that Paradise was the best Burnout although fans of the earlier games in the series possibly won't be quite as convinced.

All of the cheatcode cars that are getting bundled with it make the game well easy, unless you restrain yourself and don’t use any of them in the campaign. All of the tweaked cars you win for doing Burning Routes are all now moot.

It's reviewed by Christan Donlon who thinks Burnout Paradise is one of the best games ever made.

I did get that impression when I read the review... it's gushingly positive and some other reviews have been a little more "yeah, it's a decent port".

I've played over 6hrs of the 10 available to me under EA Access. I played the original to death and am loving it all over again.

Don't understand the hate for it if I'm honest.

I don't think there's much hate, dude - it currently stands at 81% on Metacritic - but I think it's more a case that if you liked the original then you're gonna like this but, if not, it's probably not gonna change your mind. It's cool that fans can re-visit one of their older favourites :) .

I want the game but I think £35 for a half ass port of a 10 year old game is a bit of a rip. £20 is more reasonable but this is EA we're talking about.

Digital Foundry are actually quite positive on it, seems it's a bigger overhaul than first glance would have you believe.

Navigation aside it's aged extremely well.
