But yeah after this weekend i'll grab some before and after photos, trust me you will all love the downstairs toilet pics, the decorating was on par with del boy style wallpaper.

Cheers, now to have the fun of loading up the van tomorrow morning and waiting for the call to say we can move in.

Got my mum and step-dad coming up as with the mrs being pregnant she can't do any heavy lifting, so hopefully with 4 of us it should be a doddle.

First time buyer here. Had an offer accepted last week. 70K, 3 bedroom (it's the highlands and mid terrace, so that's about right). Going through all the boring legal stuff at the moment. I'm still convinced something will go wrong and it won't happen and I'll stay that way until I have some keys in my god damn hands.

As someone fairly introverted (at times) who has only either lived with asshole flatmates or at home with nagging family members having a 3 bedroom place for just me to doss about in is going to be bliss.

Thanks.

Still some ways to go though. I've done the affordability checks with the bank got them to scan my passport and payslips and that. Because it's in Scotland the home report is done by the seller, banks will only take one dated within 3 months and this is from last September. Pushing the seller to get this refreshed currently.

But as long as the onus is on them and not me I'm quite content for now, I've been nothing but prompt in my side of things as well as keeping all parties updated.

Saw a house we loved, put an offer in before we'd even seen it and offered over the asking price within seven hours - still didn't get it. :(

Given my lack of pension/savings, I certainly wouldn't rule out downsizing somewhere remote in Scotland when I retire. In fact, it might be my best shot at not being totally impoverished :shifty:

Houses are definitely cheap here. But then the average income here is probably a lot less than down south so it probably works out mostly the same (I'm about 23K in earnings atm).

Nahhhh, not really.

Don't know your deposit but assuming 10%, you need a mortgage of £63,000. That's 2.75x your income. You'd need a huge income for 2.75x it in London to get you a 3 bedroom house. You'll feel better off than many Londoners as your mortgage represents a smaller percentage of your net income.

True. I'm just a pessimist ;)

And yeah I'm sticking down a 7K deposit. Passing the 10K savings barrier tomorrow, exciting!

70k. That really is crazy. It if interest, what do new houses in the area cost? I'm sure it would cost about that to build a 3 bed house.

Dunno, most new builds seem to be in the countryside here. And I don't drive so wanted to stay in town.

Just need to get the updated home report that I received today printed off tomorrow and faxed by the local branch and then I should get my full mortgage offer. :D Pretty exciting/terrifying. Suppose it's nearly time to shop for buildings insurance.
