This is the first CoD that I don't intend getting at launch. Just got no interest in it. (Watch this stance flip on 11th October.)

My opinion is literally the opposite of yours, had no interest in CoD TILL this one.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 requires a 50GB day one update to work

This day one update must be installed completely to play multiplayer, zombies and specialist headquarters. But Blackout, the battle royale mode, is playable once installation is about 30 per cent complete (16-20GB).

Activision said "for an optimised download experience", you should have 112GB of free hard-drive space. This isn't the size of the download, rather, it's the amount of space needed to complete the installation. The final installation footprint, as it's called, is around 55GB.

If you're downloading and installing digital copies of Black Ops 4, the day one version is roughly 55GB.

So that means the Disk copy only has 5GB installed on the disk and you have to download the rest of the game.

It does seem quite odd, ibdw. I guess it's a further step in the "discs are really just download keys" approach that publishers now take.

In it's defence it's an online only title is it not?

So this downloaded last night and it was only 45gb, I hope I don't need another 50gb on release day...

EDIT: Apparently a 14gb update on top of the 45gb went live just now for Xbox One X.

Bit pointless putting boxed copies out on retailers shelves really. All it really does if give the anti-digital brigade that sense of ownership they feel they get from modern video games when buying a physical copy.

No single player mode has put me off from putting this on my amazon Wishlist with all other COD games that I'm waiting for them to hit £10-15.

I never had fun playing online shooter games. Mainly because I'm rubbish at them and it ain't really deaf friendly consider communication is the key.

It's not communication that's the key but not being able to hear foot steps in all online shooters would be a nightmare.

This is available to play from 6pm tomorrow btw. I’ve had an email from amazon to that effect.

I think my broadband is being throttled. I was mucking about with game pass and managed to download the rather sizable Vermantide 2 and Quantum Break :fp:

I've been waiting ages for this, hopefully this won't strawberry float me over.

I could have got this wrong, but I think that the day one update patch (for the disc version) will be available to download from 6pm, whilst the game will become playable at midnight.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys think of the game. I wonder if the new Blackout mode will become super popular?

Blackout's going to be a huge success as the amount of streamers waiting for it to drop is crazy. I'm looking forward to Blackout, Zombies and all the mp stuff. I never bothered with the campaigns so mp only is perfect. Blackout will perfectly compliment the far more complex PUBG for mates and I.

HIME: Make sure you don't download Quantum Breaks TV stuff, it's 4K and takes up 100gb's or more. You can stream them instead.

How big is the file? I've checked mine and it's 49.2GB and isn't installing an update.

On X1X it’s 49.3 for me and I’ve updated it including small one just now.
