I think this game mode has real potential. The tactical aspect of it is great. I regularly play cod with 3-4 mates so it should be very enjoyable.

I really loved that war gave me a real alternative to TDM and Dom (which is what I usually play on COD) and this looks like serving a similar purpose.

It speaks volumes that all the big PUBG streamers have nothing bad to say about Blackout.

Either it really is that good, or they're just happy to finally have something else to stream.

It actually has worse graphics, on console at least, it looks like a 360 game, which is fair enough considering how big the map is and the engine.

I remember reading about SOCOM in the early 00s in Official PlayStation magazine and thinking how amazing it would be for a game where two squads trek across a jungle trying to hunt eachother down.

The play area is a few square miles and you go about laying traps and setting off flairs to lure the other team to your location like Predator or something...

It is going to be interesting to see where the Battle Royale style game goes with the next gen.

Will they just get more players or will they try and add bots or maybe randomly generated wildlife with different types of AI?

This year really is the year of Battle Royale

Fortnite (now complete with features)
PUBG (now fully released on PC/Xbox)
COD BLOPS 4 (Blackout mode)
Battlefield V (Royale mode)
H1Z1 (finally out of beta on PS4/PC)

It's obvious Fortnite is looking like a clear winner in terms of player count and viewers, but it'll be interesting to see how reviewers rate all 5.

Good. A month was ludicrous. I hated it when it was the other way round on 360/PS3

I preordered on PS4 despite owning all the other on Xbox because of the exclusivity stuff

I assume I can get a full refund? I know the PS4 community is more active but I have an elite controller which is a great help and presumably it will look a bit better.

So, only a matter of days before this lands and there's seemingly not a huge amount of excitement round these parts. I've taken the plunge and pre-ordered from Shopto regardless, as I'm in the mood for jumping onboard with some multiplayer action from the off. Typically, the latest COD would sit on the shelf for 3-4 weeks while I finish whatever else it is that I've been playing, then I would spend a couple of weeks playing through the campaign, by which time the multiplayer community would have pretty much left me behind. Not this time, though - I've cleared a path so that I can jump straight in on day one! So, who else is going to be playing and what's the etiquette for getting on your friends lists?

All my mates have it pre-ordered so it'll work it's way into our online rotation with PUBG and Forza Horizon 4, looking forward to it but just like Red Dead 2, I'm not hyped, I know it'll be good.

Honestly wasn't that keen on the Battlefield V Beta and while I'm disappointed there's no single player campaign this year, the game does looks pretty good. I'll probably give it a go when it's on sale.
