None of the futuristic CoD's have done it for me. They flitted between middling and guff. A return to the game's roots is a very welcome move.

"Dubya-dubya two" continues to draw a chuckle from me.

Yep, I may give this a go as I'd like to see what the new machines can do with the WW2 setting.

100% I would welcome a return to world war 2 or modern warfare.

One war I would like to see explored is the Korean War though. I don't like Vietnam based shooters as I'm not a fan of the jungle warfare side and Korea isn't a jungle.

Korea also gives them the chance to highlight a rather important British defensive action.

Very disappointed to see that World War 1's potential as a setting for a solid and lengthy singleplayer campaign has once again been ignored by the big boys. I don't really think its been long enough since they beat the WW2 setting to death the last time - it still seems like we should focus on other wars (WW1, Korea etc) first.

A weird George W. Bush-themed cabaret club in downtown Austin, Texas.

Maybe they would have gone with that if not for the latest Battlefield game. (Er, that's set during the WW1, yeah?)

Great stuff, we haven't had a mainstream WW2 game since the PS2 days.

I know it was done to death back then, but we need some with realistic graphics like Battlefield 1 did for WW1.

I'll be waiting for this to drop to sub-£10 to pick it up. Much preferred the futuristic setting to WW2. Infinte Warfare was fantastic, probably my favourite CoD.

It's amazing, COD has been on the dogpile for years now, soon as it switches setting, 'oh, I'm buying it now'.

Activision have already won.

In recent years I've really got caught up in the hype and excitement of the CoD game launches; ironically just as the series has seen a slight downturn in general popularity. I'm not Actvision's greatest fan but they do know how to whip up a frenzy.

I'm interested to see the return of Sledghammer Games to the franchise as Advanced Warfare looked great and was very well polished. Black Ops III seemed to be pretty highly regarded and, to be fair, even Infinity Wars was critically well received albeit it suffered due to the "Modern Warfare Remastered" issue and, possibly, the ultra-futuristic styling.

I like the idea of a return to a WW2 scenario and it could be exciting to see the now well-harnessed power of the newer consoles applied to this setting.

I'd definitely add this to my ever-growing list of games to pick up when there's a significant price drop.

WW2 definitely had its day in the early 2000s, but as others have said it'd be interesting to see what the current generation of consoles could do with the epic set pieces of the early CODs and MOHs.

Well, for me, I'd rather Activision got a win for a grounded, real world inspired CoD game than one which takes the series further and further away from its roots.

Same. I have no interest in another World War 2 game.

I haven't really bothered with CoD since they moved away from WW2, so I might be interested again if this is any good.

It would be lengthy alright, you would spend 3 years just sat in a hole in the ground watching artillery while your character developed trenchfoot and at the end of the game gets shot by his own side for PTSD.

The latest Battlefield which does not bring a strong singleplayer experience to the table? :shifty: And since when was Activision afraid of beating a setting to death anyway?
