It doesn't compare to others in terms of graphics and it does clearly need an upgrade. However the core mechanics are still there and the setting is good. Maps seem pretty nice, well designed. Quick scoping has not been nerfed which is annoying but the guns feel good with some nice variety. Grenades are back to feeling meaty and with better heft when thrown. War - whilst it is only one map and does clearly borrow from other games in its objectives - it is actually fun and engaging and you do have to work as a team to achieve the objectives. Just running and gunning will not get the job done. I played it with three friends last night and it improved immeasurably when we were communicating and trying different tactics to overcome problems. It's a basic concept but with some good locations and variety - it really could offer an online MP option for those who prefer some tactics and a more cerebral approach to shooters.

Any idea if there will be anymore beta's? I don't get home until next week and really want to give it a go.

Went onto this today and was greeted by a "Kill Confirmed is now available" message, and an update was applied. However afterwards I couldn't see KC anywhere. Anyone actually got a listing for KC?

I've got a spare code if anyone wants to install it and have a quick go.

Call of Duty Endowment launches in the UK

The foundation helps veterans find employment.

Originally started in 2009 by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, the Endowment is a US charity which provides grants to help veterans find high-quality employment. Since its formation, the programme has placed more than 37,000 US veterans into full-time civilian jobs with good salaries and long-term employment.

The Endowment is currently working to "identify and forge partnerships with a select group of UK charities", which will be announced in the coming months.

To fund the charitable programmes, Activision has announced The Call of Duty Endowment Double Duty Calling Card for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in the UK.

The animated Calling Card lets players view a service member transform from a uniformed warrior to a civilian on their way to work. The idea is it shows their donation's meaningful impact on the veteran community.

As well as the Calling Card, the pack includes three rare supply drops.

The first digital personalisation pack is available in the UK from today, with proceeds received by Activision going to Endowment programmes.

No one else playing the beta?

There's some seriously old school control settings in this. Turn left and right? Toggle strafe? Freelook? I don't think I've seen those options for about 15 years.

The game is generic as hell though. I really wanted to try this, which was exciting seeing as I've never even touched the previous 8 years worth of CoD games. There is literally nothing to set it apart. I would have said the setting, but when there's zero representation of it being Axis vs Allies except the accent of the announcer what's the point? strawberry floating silencers and holo-sights on WWII era weaponry. Axis can spawn with the M1 Garand for Pete's sake.

Still the same old 'modern-AAA-fps' gameplay. Almost unchanged at its core from the original CoD, except any semblance of quality has been totally lost. I used to love playing Search and Destroy, how slow and tense it could be, but that seems to have been removed (at least from the beta). All the modes were instant respawn, sprint everywhere killfests. The killstreak bonuses further removing any sense of balance.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a list of complaints. I just want more cool WWII games, and less of these generic modern shooters.

With Destiny 2 still to play through (only level 7; barely touched it) I'll pick up CoD when it drops in price by a fair whack. Still playing MW Remaster for my CoD fix as well.

Some people have got their hands on it already, with a video on how the new supply drops (i.e. loot boxes) work in-game: https://www.reddit.com/r/WWII/comments/ ... op_in_ww2/

It's just in the hub area though, right? Not actually mid-match?

Amazing loot boxes, it's a shame as the promise of WW2 campaign really interested me. I think I'll grab Battlefield One on the cheap instead as multi player doesn't interest me.

2017 is probably the most interesting year in gaming for years. Nintendo doing things right, Triple A publishers trying to get everything last drop out of players and GAME deciding imported American sweets are the future of retail.

Wish my image sig would work
