Modern Warfare Remastered game case revealed, reportedly available soon

Images from Target (via @drewlookinboy) suggest Modern Warfare Remastered street date is June 27 on PS4 and July 27 on Xbox One, priced $39.99.

Shock of the year! - IGN *cough*

So probably about £29.99-£34.99 over here at launch...which, hilariously enough, is now the price for the Legacy Edition of IW.

I am looking forward to it but my anticipation for its inevitable release was lessened when I learned Activision had retroactively stuck microtransactions into it :fp: :fp: :fp:

Was this the game with the co-op missions and the horde mode type game?
I'm sure I had a Call of Duty game with that stuff in it on the 360 but as per usual it's all foggy as strawberry float :fp: .

The microtransactions are completely optional. That is Jim Sterling being Jim Sterling.

They shoehorned in MT's to a game that had never had them before, and charged for downloadable content that were remasters of strawberry floating 9 year old map packs. The map packs cost double what they did on release back in 2007/8. Thats activision being activision.

They added optional MT's for cosmetiv items that don't change the gameplay in any way. What map packs are you talking about? All the maps have been added for free.

Unfortunately not, Hime. You got 10 maps with the game and then a couple were released for free... but then the next four - each from the original game - cost £12.

This was predictable! Of course they were always going to release it separately regardless of whatever they've said publicly, personally I couldn't give a rats arse about the multiplayer or what they've done to it but I wouldn't mind playing the campaign again, not at £30-35 though!

Fair enough, I didnt know that.

As remasters go, it's very good. Just don't buy the map pack unless you're very keen or can do without a few coffees, magazines, etc for a month.

You're spot-on, Hime. It really is a great re-master; it's clear that time and effort was spent in bringing the game up-to-date. It's a shame that the - somewhat understandable - hoo-ha has overshadowed things. If you're a fan of the original, though, and you don't mind paying for the re-make, you probably aren't going to be disappointed.

I saw positive reaction to this on release followed by a lot of negative feedback on how they've gone on to alter the experience with microtransactions and possibly other changes?

I'm interested in getting this as a standalone title having never played the original - and in fact having not owned a COD since pre-MW days. See what I've been missing out on.

I'd be interested to know what you think. I sunk a lot of time into this and IW and I although MW is a landmark title, the single player is largely broken and the multiplayer has been surpassed in every way by it's successors. I get that people don't like the sliding and jet packs in the latest CoD games but just shooting a gun at an enemy player has improved in every conceivable way.

I love MW but it brings out the rage like nothing else.

As seeing it will release on Tuesday and I loved Modern Warfare 3 on PlayStation 3. My mates and I played to death online every night almost 24/7.

Now, I want it and I never had a chance to play the first two so should I buy this? I just want to play online for fun and experience why it was so good back then.

I was going to recommend it but only for its campaign. No idea what the MP is like.

So, it's got a good campaign and I could play it as well.

Hmm...

How have you not even tried one of the best MP's of all time? :fp:

You may not see anything you haven't already, in either other MW games or other FPS games, but yes, it is a very good campaign.

Everyone agrees they were going to release it separately but I don't think anyone thought it would be this late. 8 months after release?

I hope loads of people buy it. Not knowing the MP maps - lambs to the slaughter!

Have they made many changes to the campaign for this release?

It's got some great setpieces but there was a lot of parts like the end of the sniper mission where it's just the same wave of enemies repeated over and over again.
