Im blessing the second city with my presence tomorrow night.

Recomendations please for a place myself and a male colleague (in our late 30s) can have a nice bit of grub and a few pints afterwards?

Thanks

It's a Bingo Hall. Buff is an old man. ;)

Bacchus Bar. I think it's a Nicholson's(sp?) pub just over the road from New Street station. Decent pub food, fantastic decor. If you sit near the door you might get the occassional beggar but they're good at hurrying them on.

Thanks Frank.

I was just messing around by suggesting you get the hell out of Birmingham. ;)

Birmingham is really, really bad for beggars. I was there several months back and got accosted at least a dozen times.

Check out Post Office Vaults for a few drinks afterwards - bang in the centre and a really cool little bar with a great selection of beer. I haven't lived in Brum for a couple of years so not sure where's good for food any more.

I was at the NEC for a conference yesterday. Ate at the hotel so I can't comment on good places to go but I'd defo not get cheesy chips if you're a northerner cuz you're gunna be disappointed.

I would recommend The Botanist.

You probably want to book a table to be safe.

The beer there is fantastic and if you opt for a deli board the type of food it comes with is the perfect accompaniment.

Birmingham is brilliant. I'll be out around the Mailbox area tomorrow so, err, shout "GRcade" loud enough and I might just come running.

I had lunch in here (http://www.purecraftbars.com/bars/birmingham/food/) last year and it was pretty good. It was a business lunch so didn't drink but I seem to remember they had a decent range of beers.
