Can Epic Go strawberry float Themselves?

I’m curious so am conducting a little experiment here.

The above items have just been added to the Fortnite store, one is a character skin the other a glider you float into the match on.

I’d like people to guess how much they cost by posting an amount, they can then look at the spoiler at the end of this post for the actual amount before reacting accordingly.

Let’s see how it goes.

£28 strawberry floating Quid

Hmmn... I don't play Fortnite but I have heard that cosmetics can be expensive. So, I reckon £9 for the outfit and £6 for the glider.

EDIT: Having looked at the actual cost... yeah, I can see how Epic are raking in hundreds of thousands of pounds every week  .

Horse Armour turned out to be pretty good value after all.

Remember the Oblivion horse armour debacle on Xbox 360 and PC?

Therefore I’m going with something ridiculous like £15.

Maybe Telltale should have taken a lesson from Epic on how to make money

Well if lootboxes are getting too much negative attention, how else are they supposed to make millions of dollars every day?

I’m glad people have the same reaction to me.

With how popular this is with kids this kind of pricing seems plain evil to me and beyond the fact they can forget ever getting anymore money from me (although there was a large chance I was never going to spend more anyway) this kind of corporate bullshit has me questioning whether I really want to continue supporting the game with my time.

How can they mossibly justify it? Ok the core game is free but it’s a strawberry floating skin and a glider, it does nothing and the fun of them would last about 15 minutes. If I was a parent and had a kid asking for this I would be so pissed off.

My young nephews (aged 12 and 10) spend a lot of their money on Fortnite content and apparently their pals do, too :dread: .

 . I should have said that they spend more than they probably should; mainly due to peer pressure form other players. Then again, I spend too much on games and DLC, too  .

Don't Blizzard sell mounts at like £25 for WoW? More so if it's a flying mount. And Vanity pets can be £7-£15.

As a father of a child who has been getting into Fortnite (and increasingly being banned from it for getting too addicted) and can tell you that epic are geniuses. The kids playing this are fluttering their eyes at their parents and they are buying all these cosmetic extras. Whilst I think it’s great that you can’t gain any competitive advantage from in game purchases the way they take advantage of these young kids it’s pretty evil. It’s also a marketing masterclass.

I personally have only purchased the season 5 pass (which I think is a waste of money) and allowed him to buy one skin and dance an eshop voucher his cousin bought him for his birthday. We’ve since refused to allow him to buy anything else. Even with his pocket money.

I think it's a bit ridiculous to charge that much for a skin to begin with. It doesn't even change gameplay, even if it looks cool and all,it's still around £30..
But still,it was about the same on League of Legends,so I suppose that's not coming from nowhere.

Aren't those usually as part of a subscription though? So it's basically an enticement to get you to buy a 3/6 month subscription by giving you an exclusive mount?

I guess at least you know exactly what you're paying for though, rather than Epic charging you £28 for a random chance to get the shiny new thing. Chances are it would cost a hell of a lot more than £28 in lootboxes for most people to get these.

Is it better to be blatantly ripped off than it just happening through random chance?

Pretty sure that subscription mount thing is new. And from the looks of it the new mount with a 6 month sub is like £52, which is a good deal, but then you have vanity pets a £9 on their own and then mounts starting at £19 and some even being £27.

I just started playing Warframe, a FTP Destiny basically, which with a mere 26 million players isn't quite as big as Fortnite. Still, I stumbled on the below just yesterday:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/warfr ... verviewtab

Yup, $60 for two character classes (which already exist in the game. These are slightly more advanced versions).

I'm not sure whether to be happy or concerned about the rise of whaling in these games. I mean, it keeps it free for the rest of us but these people are obviously getting scammed.
