Can you play US PS2 games on UK PS3?

I just recovered my US PSN account and I saw there was original Katamari on PSN US store and I'd like to try that one but I want to be on safe side: am I able to play it on my UK PS3? I figured I should, but didn't want to buy it only to discover it won't work at all.

Yeah, digital PS2 games (aka PS2 Classics on PSN store)

Yeah they work fine, when the PSN downtime fiasco happened and we got the choice of those free games, I shared accounts with someone in the US and downloaded their free games as well as some other stuff including PS1 titles. I can't see why it would be any different for PS2.

Cheers, I've downloaded and had a go on first Katamari game (which never came out in UK) and it works perfectly
