Cancelled Event Booking Fees

I've booked an event which was then cancelled, I've been refunded the ticket price but not the mandatory booking fee. I've googled but it doesn't seem like there's a legal requirement to give it back?

Anyone know any different? Seems kind of scummy.

you probably ticked a box when you bought the tickets which meant you agreed to their terms of sale. I would suspect the terms of sale would state that their booking-fee is non-refundable.

Technically you paid Ticketmaster or whoever to administrate a ticket sale to you, which they did successfully. The event being cancelled doesn't change that fact. It's bollocks but there you go :x

In a nutshell you are paying fees for staffing costs, development for the booking system and such tied into that.

So although your event has been cancelled, you’ve still used their service so they still keep their end which is fair, and something you’ll agree too I’m afraid.

The same applies to the business I suppose, they’ll be charged card processing fees for your payment, but because the event is refunded they don’t get that back either.
