Phase One

Omnivores, you will need to elect from within your ranks a Leader. This person must be appointed, by way of the 'classic' in-thread running poll, by noon today. The chosen Leader will need to submit two names to me by PM before 1pm. These two names will thusly become your choice for your Phase One kill. (The Leader's vote will be the deciding vote if the Phase One kill 'election' results in a tie.)

As well as being immune from any Cannibal kills that will take place later this Phase, your Leader will obtain an important clue, which they will be trusted to share with the rest of the group.

Finally, the leader will be the person to make the decision for this Phase's question on behalf of the group. The question is as follows:

"Do we want to look in the attic to see if there's anything in there that we can use against the cannibals?"

Remember - both Cannibals and Friends of the Dead will be informed as to the 'best' outcome.

Decision by noon please, ladies and gents.

Hard to have a sensible strategy at this point. In recent games the bad guys have targetted experienced players as quickly as possible so I suggest we nominate a good player. That's all I've got!

Pretty much what Pancake says. We have zero info at the moment and so whatever we decide is just a shot in the dark.

Makes sense. Especially as from the sounds of it the cannibals can knock out quite a few a day so we could loose good players fast!

This seems sensible. I like sensible.

Also, so people know, I'm at a press event from 10-5 (and leaving my flat in about ten minutes) so I'm not going to be about much during the day phase. I'm taking a laptop so I'll try and keep up with the thread if we get a lengthy lunch break.

In terms of kills, we don't have anything to go on yet. The main thing we should be looking at is whether to go to the attic to see if there's anything we can find to kill these mummy strawberry floating cannibals with.

With that in mind, I'll run for leader with the idea of sending people to the attic, and killing suspects decided by consensus in the thread. I'll be here all morning as well.

So we can look in the attic to see if there's anything that helps to beat the cannibals.
It might be good or bad to look in the attic.
The cannibals know if it's good or bad.

That right?

It is a risk to go into the attic but we don't have anything right now so I think it is a worth while risk.

I'll vote Cora

There are also some village roles that know if it's good or bad but obviously they will want to keep their heads down if possible.

Can Dan or Karl tell us more about the events/leader role? Are they events that require people to be online at certain times? I can post a lot during the day but can't guarantee I could be online at an exact time, so wouldn't want to put myself forward for an event only to find I am away during the event itself.

For leader today, I have no issue with supporting Cora, but will hold off voting until I know if anybody else is standing. I don't want to flip flop if somebody comes up with a better platform.

RE: the leader role - there's not much more that I can tell you beyond what's already in the OP and my posts already in the thread, but I'd be happy to answer any specific questions.

RE: the events - there'll be one along shortly. You basically volunteer for it as it comes along. The first X number of volunteers get to do the event (X being the number required for the event to take place). If no-one volunteers, nothing happens.
Once enough people are signed up, the event will 'happen'. It may or may not require you to make any decisions but I can guarantee you now that it won't require you to be online at an exact specified later time - it'll simply take place shortly after it's announced (unless it takes a while for the full complement of volunteers to show themselves, in which case you'll have a window of about an hour).
The events will all be different in nature, unlike the questions/decisions and clues, which will both follow a very set formula every phase.

Hope that helps.

Cheers. An hour window is fine and I could join in with that. I was just imagining a rerun of your co-pilot game with Drummy getting every answer within 0.001 seconds. ;)

Well, I say go in the attic. If Dan's been a dick and made this first one bad, we can blame him and his awful game. ;)

Drum :x

But yeah, vote me for leader. Obviously I'll publicise any clue I'm given and we'll vote to kill someone accordingly.

I think it's worth sending someone to the attic - we have nothing to go on at the moment and the cannibals obviously have a massive advantage. The assumption is that we wouldn't have the opportunity to go up there if it would be entirely useless for the humans, so I'd imagine there will be a task for anyone who volunteers to go up, with a potential reward for success.

Cora (2) - errkal, Euan

I'll also be happy to volunteer for the first event, unless it's obviously malicious or other people desperately want to do it.

Just reading up on the rules, the clue system sounds interesting. I suppose there are a few ways we can approach that-either keep going for letters from the same cannibal to build up their name or get 2-3 letters from each cannibal throughout the week, therefore giving us shortlists to work with which could be especially useful if we get to the finale and need to make final decisions to win the game.

Not a lot to go on so far, so happy to vote for Cora and we might as well send someone to the attic, see what's happening up there.

Question: do we know how many cannibals there are? Didn't spot it in the rules.
