It irks me that the gooseberry fool seasons outnumber the great ones now. I think it's slipped way down the list of greatest TV shows of all time because of that. :(

Dig Dug wrote:So if seasons 2-8 are the only acceptable Simpsons seasons and Canyonero appeared in season 9 what does that mean for this thread?

We're not deeming season 9 unacceptable, we're just making sure that we don't bite off more than we can chew. Initially, I proposed seasons 1-10 but the consensus was that it would be better to start with a more focused approach and then continue with the remaining seasons if people were still interested in the whole thing.

Regarding season nine, I also want to watch the Paint Your Wagon episode :shifty:

Try not to think about it. The last season I enjoyed as a whole was season 10. That ended nearly 15 years ago :dread: It is sad, but the seasons that preceded the utter shite are pretty glorious.

I still would have the Simpsons in my top 5 shows of all time, purely because of how amazing those "glory years" were.

Still...it's impressive that a family of yellow people with weird haircuts has made such a long lasting impact world wide.

Well in all fairness I've always looked at it like this. Season 11 ended with "Behind the Laughter" where at the end of the episode Homer says the next season will be the last, season 12 had Trilogy of Error, an episode that despite being from post season 9 is still considered by a lot of people to be one of the best post season 9 episodes and a good episode overall. So it makes sense to say the Simpsons only has 12 seasons because it's really where it should have ended, I mean, long running comedies tend to have a gooseberry fool last season or two anyway.

EDIT: looking at the episode listing, season 11 had some strawberry floating shocking episodes.

I like from Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge season 13.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you too!

I really can't understand what you people are talking about, yes the earlier seasons were great, and yes for a long time the show sucked, but recent episodes have been very good. But you've all just decided that after point X everything sucks so no matter how good any new episodes are you just automatically dismiss them. :fp:

Rightey: I am a big fan of The Simpsons 2-8 (and, largely, this extends to 1-10). I am willing to watch, say, four post-season-13 episodes of Zombie Simpsons. Please recommend me some. I will genuinely watch all four and respond with an informed review.

I, too, would be interested in seeing a couple of the newer 'good' ones.

I'm not dismissing them out of hand, the more recent ones I've seen have been strawberry floating embarrassingly bad.

Quick question, where do they show the title of each episode? Is it in the credits? Over here when I watch an episode it never says which one I am watching, and if I look on the TV guide the description is just "Simpsons" with no information about what episode it is, this would make telling you what episode it is pretty hard.

There was one I saw recently which I thought was pretty good. It was about Grandpa Simpsons past as a pro wrestler, Glamorous Godfrey, lots of Mr. Burns which made it funny.

Edit: This one was also good...

I'm not sure how you go about finding the episode name/numbers. Sorry! Your best bet is to probably narrow it down by season, then look at the synopses for each season e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Simpsons_%28season_25%29 to figure out what episode it is.
