Press Release

Ready for Adventure!

The intrepid Captain Toad sets off on his own adventure for the very first time through a wide variety of tricky, enemy-infested, maze-like stages to find hidden gems and nab elusive gold stars.

FEATURES:

Equipped with nothing more than a neck scarf, backpack and oversized head lamp, Captain Toad finds hidden gems, coins and power-ups on his way to the gold star at the end of each tricky, trap-filled stage.

Captain Toad isn't particularly fast or strong. He can't jump and he has no super powers. But he knows that sometimes, it's all about wits and perspective.

Twist the camera to reveal hidden locations and other secrets. The Wii U GamePad offers a closer view of the dangers and hidden items in each maze, and its gyro controls can also be used to peer around.

Captain Toad's world is brimming with life, with dangerous enemies, tricky platforms, nasty traps and secrets to uncover. Each stage is its own puzzle to solve, and littered throughout are hidden items in hard-to-reach places. Can you help our tiny adventurer survive to find them all?

Looks like Nintendo doing what they do best. Taking a simple concept and exploiting every possibility imaginable.

Lovely box-art but I was expecting a £10~ish digital only offering.

Looking forward to this Treehouse Live though.

Is this a full price release? I like Captain Toad but don't want to pay £40 for more levels.

It's not just new levels though, there are a ton of new mechanics and boss fights. It might get a budget release like Super Luigi with the option to download it as DLC into 3D World.

They've expanded on the core concept by the looks of it.

The only thing that could give me pause is if there aren't enough levels. If they manage to stick 120+ levels on a disc I'll be fine with whatever they want to charge.

Just me, or does this look graphically up a notch from 3D World? I suppose there's less going on, but it's all wonderfully crisp and the animation on that boss was brilliant.

Does look like almost every visual trick from 3D world condensed into each stage. I don't think any other game at E3 screams "play me" like this does. From the art to the level design. It just begs to be played.

The Cpt. Toad sections of SM3DW were among my favorite parts of the game, and Cpt. Toad himself has been a favorite character of mine since SMG, so to have him in his own game is like, very amazing. EXCITE!
