PostCapcom: "HD remasters one of our key business activities"
by ITSMILNER » Mon May 18, 2015 8:21 pm

Q. Capcom is using downloads to sell remastered and other versions of catalogue titles. What is the
relationship between package and digital download sales? Isn’t there a risk of competition between
these two channels?

A. HD remasters of our catalogue hit titles will be one of our key business activities. Overseas, it is
becoming difficult to sell these lower-priced and re-mastered titles at stores because of the
declining number of stores and sales area limitations. Therefore, we started aggressive digital
download sales activities. These activities created new demand for these titles. For example,
overseas download sales of "Resident Evil" (HD Remastered) in the past fiscal year were far
higher than we expected. It is not a risk but rather the growth of the download sales channel gives
users more options. We regard this as growth in opportunities to have allow access for more people
to enjoy our games.

Onimusha collection would be fantastic although I'm curious as to whether or not they've stood the test of time. The third game in particular.

I'd prefer a physical option, but I guess you can't have everything.

A polished dragons dogma in proper widescreen would interest me as its a game that i would like to give a proper go, even though i have it via ps plus.

The problem with capcom is that their remasters aren't actually that good!

I played 3 recently, it was brilliant fun re-playing it. It didn't feel overly old to me.

Without sounding overly hostile, why not go and give the game a try first, seeing as you already have it and it's cost you nothing? Seems a bit weird wishing for a remaster that, more likely than not, won't happen and for a game you don't even know if you will like, when you have a copy waiting to played on your HD.

You actually have a chance to play it to see if you even like the game, but instead are hoping for a remaster somewhere down the line. Seems very strange to me.

I have and it seems ok, but the ps3 version is pretty bad!

Would love to see Okami HD on more than just PS3. PS4/PC/X1 please Capcom.

Also God Hand, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Shadow of Rome, Dragon's Dogma, Viewtiful Joe 1&2 and Resident Evil 2 in a ReMake fashion.

One of the Capcom games I'd most like to see tarted up is absolutely never going to happen... Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers on NES. That said they remade Duck Tales which I wasn't expecting so who knows?
