Just fired RE2 up for the first time on PS5.

I'm really terrible at noticing subtle differences, even in side by side comparison but here's what felt different to me.
- Leon's face model looks different. He looks older and has more pronounced nose chin and cheek bones.
- There seems to be tweaked facial expressions in cut scenes that looks nice.
- The Ray Tracing is barely noticeable but when I do spot it the effect looks nice and realistic.
- Haptics are a great addition and clearly the main appeal.

Anything else I couldn't say whether it was an actual change or just something I'm noticing differently. It's clearly not a generational leap though, not that I ever think it was sold as such.

I’m err, not really seeing anything different, but it’s been nearly 3 years since I last played. It actually seems to struggle to run in places now, especially cut scenes (Xbone SX)

I can only imagine how bad it must be playing with headphones on with the lights off :dread:

More than 3 years after the above post, I've finally plucked up the courage to buy this damn game. I was inspired by the Resident Evil-themed latest issue of Retrogamer (available in all good newsagents, and some rubbish ones too) and saw that it was heavily discounted on PSN, so I've snapped it up and will be journeying into the bowels of the Racoon City Police Department this week :toot: :dread: :dread:

I played the demo again at the weekend to see if I could handle it, and I managed to finish it so I'm quietly confident that I have what it takes. Still incredibly a bit apprehensive about having to deal with Mr X, but sometimes you just have to face your fear :capnscotty:

I've read through this entire thread in preparation, and seeing all of your trials and tribulations has given me the resolve to put my headphones on, turn my lights off and get this game played.

As I struggle through every inch of this game, I'm heartened to see that it is possible to become an absolute strawberry floating BOSS if you have the skills to pay those Raccoon City bills :datass:

I do not possess these skills.

Glad your enjoying it Preezy, where are you up to now?

That 4th Survivor run isn’t actually as hard as it looks. At least 50% of the zombies can just be run past so they’re a non-issue. Another chunk it’s just a matter of knowing which side of them you need to be to avoid the lunge. The resit is shooting and knowing when to burn items. It’s a lot of fun going through all the Ghost Survivor runs, they were a great free addition. I actually think the No Way Out (I think that’s what the defeat 100 zombies in the gas station is called) scenario is significantly harder!

I'm currently dying repeatedly with Ada and her magic EMF gun. I just keep freaking out when Mr. X comes stomping in  :dread:

I don't quite now how to offer advice because I've been doing speed runs so much that I think the strategies I use might be pretty ineffective. I'm used to just running through all that section.

Without using any glitches I got to 60th in the world on PS4

Is it possible to learn this power?

Just FYI - I jumped on this as soon as I got home from work and I nailed it, just completely blocked out Mr. X and focussed on the EMF bits :toot:

Now back in control of Leon and I know I don't have to worry about Mr. X for a good while now, so I can just enjoy the game again

Having a code cheat sheet will knock of a couple of hours. Learning the optimum path through will knock off a few more. Knowing how to run past enemies rather than engaging them will take off another. Realising how OP they knife is and utterly abusing that fact will get you into the upper echelons as you will realise how few resources you actually need.

I loved learning all the pathing and developing the skill to go through it at speed. Getting out of the police station in 20 minutes was a good benchmark. When I fully dove into the speed run strategy and using the knife I was actually a little disappointed because it felt so easy and almost like I'd broken the game to the point of it being not enjoyable. I only ever did it once because I didn't really enjoy doing it.

I think I must have beaten RE2 at least 50 times

Got a bit of time on this before work (and maybe a bit after work officially started :shifty: ) and managed to rescue Ada and kill the G2 fella. Just before I did that bit I ventured back into the police station (as I know you go straight to the labs after rescuing her) and it was weird being able to run about without the fear of Mr. X bursting through a wall to grab you. Managed to complete a couple of side bits whilst I was at it, all in all a very productive little play session :toot:

Next up, the Umbrella Labs and the delights within :dread:

Aaaand that's Leon's A run complete - 8.5 hours, C rating. I reckon I could easily shave an hour or 3 of that knowing all of the safe/locker/puzzle solutions right from the off (which I have noted in my notebook like an old schooler :slol: ) and not cowering in the safe room for long periods waiting for Mr. X to go somewhere else  . He still strikes fear into me, but I know I can handle him.

The Umbrella Labs section was the shortest part for me, felt like I flew through it for the most part, despite some of the enemies being tougher (the plant-based zombies in particular :dread: ).

Overall, I thought this game was strawberry floating amazing - probably one of the best I've ever played. Easily a 10/10. Now to get cracking with the other runs.

I found Clair B so hard that I actually dropped the game for a year. Came back, did Clair A and Leon B.

The B playthroughs are a bit more challenging from the get go, but it's a fun challenge. Really feels like the game goes "cool, show me what you learned on easy mode"/
