Does anyone here have a multi car policy? My wife's car is coming up for renewal and I'm wondering if I can extend my policy to cover her and me for both cars for an additional extra that is less than her renewal premium.

Yes?

Doing this a few years back I managed to get a FAR cheaper quote on Admiral, so i rang elephant to say I was switching. Cue frenzied ZOMFG PLS DNT GO! And they matched it. Anyway, I realised a few weeks after that it was so much cheaper (talking over a hundred here) as i'd not declared my extras on the admiral one. SO i got the admiral price in the end but with all my relevant bits declared. 8-)

tl;dr If you're with Admiral or Elephant, play both off each other and you'll always save something.

Didn't know that but too late now as I have accepted Admiral's now

Umm...off the top of my head it's around £450 per year fully comp through Hasting Direct. I'm 26 years young and I also appear to be the youngest male in the known universe to drive a Citroen C3  . I've been driving since I was 17 but only been building no claims since I was 21. Despite a reasonable staff discount my own employer quoted me over £800 this term. Outrageous!

Just phoned up to confirm a change of address and have been refunded £12 on my policy  Its not much but its something, also hopefully a good indicator that my renewal is set to go down when its up at the start of April.

Lucky they didn't try to charge you an admin fee. I once called up my insurer for them to take into account the decaf that I'd passed my Pass Plus, expecting a saving only for them to tell me I wouldn't get any saving and they were going to charge me £25 for updating my policy. I pretty much kindly told the Indian man on the phone to strawberry float off and put the phone down.

I know.. Don't shoot the messenger and all that but I was livid, damnit. :x

Mine's up next month - ran an early search on comparethemarket.

33 yr old male, 2001 Audi TT 225bhp/Quattro, no accidents, no convictions, 7yrs' NCB, car parked on drive in relatively decent neighbourhood, alarm, immobiliser.

£505 is best price, with Admiral - not bad, but I was (obviously) hoping for better - more like the £400 mark. Maybe I'm just being unrealistic. Haven't had a quote from Bell yet, so I'll see what they can do.

I sent Direct Line a letter about my change of address and they want an additional premium of £302.10. Aye right then, good way to keep your customers that.

Got a quote off Admiral for less than I'm (well, my dad is :shifty: ) paying just now so I'm letting this one expire on Tuesday and moving over to them.

I turn 25 next week (so old, mayne. ) .

Should see my car insurance go down though, right? It needs renewing at the end of the month so will find out then.

You'll lose the £200 they seem to apply for being 20-24 maybe.

Managed to get 480 quid from Bell, after some negotiating. Not bad considering I've got a 'sporty' car. It's actually down by 100 quid on last year. (Sorry for all the 'quids', my pound sign isn't working.)

I need to renew the insurance on my old Focus. The renewal price is £500 and the best I can find online is £500 + £80 quidco cashback.

Last year I paid £510 + got £60 cashback, so it is a tiny bit cheaper but I was hoping for more.
