Maintence too. Some things have to be changed after a certain amount of time if the mileage limit isn't reached, like cambelts.

Looks like a further 2-3 weeks before I get the car.

Finally had my A5 test drive. I really liked it a lot. I will say though, I think handling perhaps wasn't as tight as I would have liked.

Not a big fan of turbo lag, either.

Gonna try out a C220 in a couple of weeks just for comparison and then probably a 320d.

The ol' 406 is now tested for the next year. Massive relief!

What do you guys think of coatings like gtechniq and what not?

I was thinking that if I'm going to chuck a load of money on a car I might as well get it detailed and have some of that put on, but I don't know if it's any good.

Get a detailer to do it. Get pics of their previous work.

Or http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/

*sigh*

Now not looking to get the car until 26th May at the earliest. Apparently although the tyres are road legal, they have some cracks and they are not happy to "release" the car with them and the tyres they want won't be available any earlier than 22nd May. On the plus side, (other than getting brand new tyres all round), they also replaced the pads all round so I won't be looking at paying out on brakes or pads for sometime (unless the car inspires me to constantly drive aggressively, which is a possibility). As I now have some extra time will think about getting parking sensors added and also removing some of the padding from the driver's seat so I can sit a little lower.

Vroom!

I was gonna get Miracle Detail to do it. I think his prices start at £500 for gtechniq and a full detail but his work is supposed to be the best.

Bedfordshire. Guilford isn't far off, which is where they're based.

The last line:

Government sources said rates of vehicle excise duty are unlikely to change for diesel vehicles.

Am I being dense? I literally can't see that line in the article.

Haha, no worries, just glad I wasn't going insane.

I do think it's one to watch, after the dash to diesel of the past 10 years, it could be political suicide if they start shafting diesel drivers. Then again, they've got five years...

Seems like cars aren't what they should be going after anyway:

The latest government statistics show that in 2011, the nation’s 28.5 million cars emitted 150,000 tons of nitrogen oxides, but a further 97,000 tons were given off by just 400,000 HGVs.

:?

I'm arranging test drives on a C220 and a 320d for the weekend. I'm quite eager to find out which out of those and the A5 I really want and get on and look for one.
