Still not had time to get lots of nice pics. But snapped this one quickly:

Quick impressions: it's awesome. Nice and civilised below 3,000 rpm, and the turbo doesn't thump in like it does in the Forester, but the power delivery from 3000 onwards is brilliant. It's also ridiculously planted. Quite a harsh ride, but I like that so it's fine. Just no body roll at all. Doesn't feel like it's anywhere near as large a car as it is, it handles quite incredibly, TBH.

It's also in great nick for an 11-year-old car.

When it does feel like a large car is when it comes to going backwards That'll take a bit of getting used to. Reversing in the dark is quite tricky, as the rear tints are about as heavy as you can get. It does have an aftermarket reversing camera attached, but not wired up, so I'm going to look into that.

The camera? Yeah, I'd have to get an adult to do it. Does make me wonder why it's not been hooked up previously

Failing that, I could be tempted to get some reversing sensors professionally fitted. If you're reversing in a dark place you honestly can't see a thing

I'm sort of gutted the Fozzer has to go - I like the idea of keeping it for trips to the tip, etc. But it really does have to go.

Apparently 300 is the safe limit for those Legacy engines - it's a very soft map, up from 276 as standard. V-Power or Tesco fuel only, but it's a decent chunk more efficient than the Forester, so that's ok.

The premium fuel thing is what ends up getting annoying. Its basically all Ive ever used in my cars anyway, but suddenly when you are restricted to only 99 or better then it becomes something you have to plan ahead for. Especially if your tank has limited range, every long trip I have to plan where I can stop or how far I can get before fuel becomes an issue.

Ive been fairly impressed with the Tesco stuff though, its usually cheaper than the Shell standard and has never caused me any problems.

Morning folks. I'm considering selling my money sink car. It's a Corsa, in the last 12-18 months I've had to have a valve in the engine replaced, two tyres, the air conditioning unit and a load of electrical wires in the dashboard, and it looks like the clutch has gone now as well.

Problem is, this is my first car, I know strawberry float all about them. I last had it serviced on about 17,000 miles in 2015 and it's now done 33,000. It's booked in for Friday to get it sorted. How badly is this gonna strawberry float me when it comes to getting a decent price?

EDIT: Looks like it should be done roughly every 20,000 miles, rather than year on year?

Problem is, this is my first car, I know strawberry float all about them. I last had it serviced on about 17,000 miles in 2015 and it's now done 33,000. It's booked in for Friday to get it sorted. How badly is this gonna strawberry float me when it comes to getting a decent price?

It's every 12 months or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. Not following the correct service schedule will affect the resale value.

It is a bit overdue on the servicing schedule, but I've seen far worse. How old is the car? It doesn't sound very old and Vauxhall might have sorted out the air con and wiring if you'd kicked up a big enough fuss. Clutch and tyres is probably down to how you are driving it.

It's a 13 plate - tyres needed replacing only because two of them were punctured too close to the corners to be patched. It was only a couple of months outside warranty period when the air con went but set me back £300.

We don't know what's up with it yet but it's lost power to go beyond about 20mph, seems to be revving when at a standstill and the engine light has come on, according to my brother(I'm in France ATM so will be getting the breakdown folk out when I get home). I actually think it might be the same thing that happened to it last year when I was driving.

I've booked it in for a service on Friday and will speak to someone about a valuation this week depending on what I find out about the issues.

Might be worth checking the coil pack. They're notoriously gooseberry fool on Vauxhalls.

Weird one last night. I was almost definitely followed by a dodgy bunch.

Was driving back from friends in Uttoxeter and the road was closed so I had to divert through Stoke. Some old Sprinter van with overbright HIDs swings out of a side road from nowhere and comes right up behind me. There are speed cameras all over the place and its a 30 limit so I was doing about 33, with traffic in front of me anyway. The van sits inches from me for a mile or so, I pointed out to the gf that it was odd and hes either a wanker or just not about himself. So then the lanes open up and I assume he'll blast past. Nope, Im sat in the left lane at the limit and he is inches from me still.

So we stop at some lights - at this point hes been on me for over 3-4 miles Id say - and I manage to see the driver through the HIDs now he is stationary. Two young asian lads fiddling about with some gooseberry fool on the dash and underneath but both staring at me. Im now thinking this is extremely bizarre. Next set of lights is a split to go left or right, so Im heading left, and the lights go red. For the first time so far the van keeps distance from me. I change last minute and head right and so does the van, changing lanes himself. Hmm.

Now we are on a dual carriageway with a 60 limit, Im at 62, the van.. right up my arse. This continues for another couple of miles, Im not interested in speeding away and getting done for the privilege. Then finally the van pulls up next to me and the pair of these nobbers just stare into the car and then they move past. But its still not over. They pull out in front of the car in front of me and slow him down a bit and then just sit there with one car between us. My junction is still 5-6 miles away and this continues. Eventually I pull into my exit and the van carries on and accels away.

Very weird experience. Gf suggested they were trying to goad me into a race, but in a van? I thought I was perhaps being scoped out and was also semi expecting to be crashed into for an insurance scam or hijack, had that have occurred I wouldnt have stopped tbh.

Time period was around 23:10-23:40.

I think most the time, understanding that something weird is going on, is enough to prevent it happening. It's that streetwise edge that separates survivors from victims.

Nah. Ive considered it a few times but always put myself off by thinking the day I get it is the day I strawberry float up. Plus I like a spirited drive every now and then and can really do without self conviction.
