Tax, petrol, insurance just too high and I've been wanting a 5 door for a while.

So I've been looking around for the last few weeks looked at an 06 jag x V6, but other than the 5 doors the petrol and insurance situation wouldn't change.

Went yesterday to see about a C-class, but it was gone by the time I got there, so I might have been sad and bought myself an E-class.

In fact I'd go as far as to say I did buy an E-class.

What year?

I've been told by a Lexus dealership that the alternator I got put into my car (in May) is very weak so I've now got to take it to the mechanic and hope that, as I am a regular customer, he can fix it for me for free. The car's been driven very little since I bought my new one so I know it can't be worn out it must have been bad from the start.

Also the Lexus guy couldn't detect any problem with the electrical system, so it's still a mystery why the battery dies after two days if it's not used (Yes I changed the battery once, it still happens).

Finally got the van back this morning. New wheels look totally rad as expected. It's so much smoother and quiter now the shocks and ball joints have been done too.

Cost was still a lot but not as bad as they first made out so while I'm stinging from paying it, it's not that bad after all.

So can someone give me the low down on diesel emissions?

My old diesel is getting older and I will buy a new car in the summer. So if I got a newer diesel, say post 2013. Would that still be considered bad?

Pah, I don't see the issue, harming peoples lungs ain't as bad as harming the environment, we're overpopulated anyway. Yes I have been talking to Lucien.

Also I'm looking to spend about 10 K and get a ford focus sized car that has good MPG and will last me a good while. I was thinking a 2014 -15 Volvo V40 with 20,000-30,000 miles on clock, any better suggestions?

No Audi's or BMW's or SUV's please.

I have a nice amount of time to think it over anyway

2014-15 Volvo V40 is a better choice than Ford Focus. As I’ve got a reg 16 V40 D4 R-Design Nav and it’s fantastic. The fuel economy is great and lasts me a month to empty it. It’s also more comfortable than Ford Focus.

Also, the road tax for reg 2014-15 should be free as it emissions 99g/CO2. So it’s really low and clean. I think after reg 2013 and the engines are more cleaner.

Hope it helps. :D

It does, I have no idea why I'm swayed towards this particular car when there are so many out there. It just looks real nice.

Did you buy yours from new or a year old? How much is a year old one? Probably like 15-16 k ?

I HAVE AN IDEA, WHY DON'T WE PUT WHAT CARS WE OWN IN THE FIRST POST? Then we can PM owners of the same car with questions if we wanna discuss things! I bet this has been suggested already and shunned down.

Because this is an open forum and with a small bit of detective work you can work out where users live. It would be a handy shopping list for would be car theives.

With luck, maybe someone will take the van off your hands.

Simple solution, just post up previous cars. That way no one will want them or they will be unlucky.

So anyone thinking about buying a Ford Capri Mk II (circa 1976), send me a PM.

Yes?

I've now come the conclusion that BMW drivers are no longer the worst drivers on the road, Not even Audi, above even lorry drivers and white van men (lol van psml).

It's focus/fiesta ST drivers. Holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool what a bunch of utter banana splits.

Get cut up? ST driver
Car tears past doing double the speed limit in a residential area? ST driver.
Tailgated and then violently undertaken? ST driver

There's several in the car park here. One is usually taking up the disabled space closest to the front door. And no it's not disabled driver. Another either takes up two spaces (he doesn't wash his hands after using the toilet either the grubby banana split) or he parks it in the middle of the yellow don't park here hatching, presumably because his car is oh so special.

banana splits.

 My brother's just got an ST estate

But generally, I'd agree. TBF, fast Fords have always tended to attract hooligans. I had a baseball-cap wearing idiot in a Fiesta pull out in front of me a few months ago. I beeped and gave him a disapproving headshake (he was reeling) as he stared me out in his mirror. He then really put his foot down as the road cleared.

strawberry floating idiot. If I was trying I'd have destroyed him, but I had the kid in the car. Still, sure it made him feel good for a moment.

Speaking of hooligans, I'm off to Autosport International at the NEC tomorrow, on a comp ticket with a client. Not sure what to expect, tbh. It's a trade day so hopefully won't be too rammed.

Yeah, I don't have high hopes. It'll be full of exhibitors (such as my client). Will deffo attempt to get into the live arena, though. Cheers.

It's all stalls and mostly people with VR rigs showing something off. I did find the little postonheads stall which had a snes and Mario kart set up with a time trial competition going though. Probably the best bit of the day
