My driver side window seems to be broken. It was making a horrible grinding noise and stopped working but luckily managed to get it to close by holding the button up. But now its stuck and won't budge...luckily in the closed position.
The doors are rimless so the window has to go up/down a bit when the door opens. It won't even do that now.

I hope BMW won't charge me for this as the car is only 4 years old.

I also checked for any signs of tampering as my car was parked on a street over night. But it seems fine, no marks or scuffs.

Im not prepared to pay lol but will have to I guess.
Maybe will opt for a Japanese car next time as they are much more reliable.

If they try to charge you then get an independent inspection. If it verifies that it was an inherent fault rather than just wear and tear then the dealer are legally obliged to repair it regardless of what their warranty says. And refund the cost of the independent inspection.

Thanks! Yes I’m sure EU laws overide whatever the manufacturer warranty is if the fault is inherent.

Will ring the dealership on Monday when they are open and will also take it to the local independent garage opposite my workplace for a quote.

The sports coupe is gone

Tax, petrol, insurance just too high and I've been wanting a 5 door for a while.

So I've been looking around for the last few weeks looked at an 06 jag x V6, but other than the 5 doors the petrol and insurance situation wouldn't change.

Went yesterday to see about a C-class, but it was gone by the time I got there, so I might have been sad and bought myself an E-class.

In fact I'd go as far as to say I did buy an E-class.

I've been told by a Lexus dealership that the alternator I got put into my car (in May) is very weak so I've now got to take it to the mechanic and hope that, as I am a regular customer, he can fix it for me for free. The car's been driven very little since I bought my new one so I know it can't be worn out it must have been bad from the start.

Also the Lexus guy couldn't detect any problem with the electrical system, so it's still a mystery why the battery dies after two days if it's not used (Yes I changed the battery once, it still happens).

2007, avengarde, 220cdi, the 170bhp one.

no problems with her, just this week had to get the disks and pads done, other than that she's grand.

Would like to get the alloys stripped back and redone, they are a big crappy looking, but that's something I'll sort out when I have a little extra cash.

Nearly double the the mpg over the coupe, cheaper tax and cheaper insurance, can't go wrong.

I've never bought my own car but if I saw a model that had positive reviews across the board and had won awards, that would certainly influence my decision. I don't really know anything about cars so I could very easily be part of the uninformed minority. How else are you supposed to find out if a car is any good or not?
