Fiesta ST drivers are so try hard. They always seem to have some silly extra stuck on to the car as well.

I think its because they were told the cars were fast, but every time they come against an actually quick car they get shamed.

I'm going to change my car and I'm thinking either a Jag XF or a Merc E-Class, anyone have any advice?

My brother works for Jag and isn't a massive fan of them. I'd probably go Merc, given the choice. Expensive services, though.

Has he given you any reason as to why he doesn't like them?

My dad has an XF and an XE and they are very nice cars. The XF is an older model and has some electrical issues though. The newer one has no problems.

Why not buy a car that's good and reliable? Don't both Mercs and Jags have massive depreciation?

That being said my neighbour has an XF and it looks awesome.

Oops just noticed my car reached 3 years of age on the 20th Dec and I have been driving without an MOT since then. I am gonna book it in asap...will I get in trouble for not having MOT for more than a month? What will the garage say?

Its ok, quick google and this happens a lot. I am lucky that I have had no accident. Just booked it in online at quick fit near my office tomorrow morning before work.

Hope this serves as a reminder to anyone else here who may have forgotten their MOT.

Same thing happened to me, I did my MOT a month early the previous year thinking it would roll over to the old date... it did not. Or maybe I just plain forgot - who knows. Fortunately (I guess?) I was out of work at the time so I wasn’t commuting and indeed spent most of the time it was illegal out of the country, so I didn’t actually drive it during that time. Very easily done though!

I don't think the garage will care.

Yep, I somehow did this last year and they didn’t bat an eyelid. Was about 2 months out of date.

I work for Bristol Street Motors. We don't give a gooseberry fool. Could have been SORN for all that time as far as anyone knows, it's none of our business.

I think you're legally allowed to drive your car on the road if its not got an MOT if you're on your way to an MOT appointment. It does seem to catch more people out that I thought it would though, knew someone who was looking to buy a car at an auction but it didn't have an MOT so they didn't bother bidding for it, turned out it wasn't 3 years old yet........

Anyway as this is a car thread I suppose I should say what I currently drive, a 57 plate Honda Civic 1.8 petrol, had for it about 3 & 1/2 years and its been more or less trouble free motoring, only thing I've had to change outside of consumables is one of the wheel speed sensors which set me back around £100.

I won't lie though, getting the itch for something new now, just not really sure what as of yet.

Now I'm going to be walking/cycling to work and no longer need two cars, we have no need for the campervan as a daily driver (which is why we bought it in the First place, can take it camping but use it every day). Going to save for a bit then probably sell it and buy a proper motor home purely for camping and holidays. Get to lord it over the povvos in their tents then :datass:
