My favourite colour for the Scirocco was the viper green which was very similar. Bright green with metal flakes.

I really like the CH-R too, and the Kona is nice. Have you looked at the similar Kia Stonic? Comes with a longer warranty than the Hyundai.

There are no Kia dealers near me I think, but Ill have a little search and look into it.

My car just had its major service today and it's come back that "Discs front are excessively grooved causing a very poor and inefficient braking surface, when on road test caused brake vibration and judder through the pedals, requires new pads and discs ASAP"

I can't say I've ever felt vibration or judder personally, but they sent me a video showing the discs. I'll see if I can figure out how to download/re-upload here. The video shows front and back discs on one side, so I'm assuming they're saying all 4 wheels need new pads and discs rather than just the front.
This is after the car has covered 37,000 miles, mostly motorway driving.

They've also quoted me £465 to replace them. Does that sound about right? This was from an Audi dealer so sure I could get it cheaper mind.

A Skoda Karoq. It's a big family car with every mod con thrown in. But the one feature that I'm most excited about is the ability to completely remove the rear seats. It's amazing.

I might see if a local garage or Audi specialist can do it cheaper, since Audi dealers do a price match. Just paid £375 for the service/oil change/pollen filter as well

I paid something like £229 for my son's front discs and pads at Halfords (although they have a lifetime guarantee) so I don't think the Audi price is extortionate. Why not take your car to Halfords or Kwikfit, they probably give a free brake check and will tell you if something needs to be changed.

I think that's something you've made up. I didn't see any mention of it in the brochure.

Went into the Audi garage today to book my car in for the replacement Brake discs and Pads after I got some other quotes for £445, but Audi do a price match. I figured for the sake of £20 they wouldn't argue and that way I get the cheaper price and the work done by Audi themselves. After I finally spoke to someone (having waited 25 minutes just for that) they said that the price would actually be £865. Turns out that even though the Engineer wrote "Front and Rear" on the quote he had given, when doing the pricing he had missed out parts and labour for the rear wheels.

Fortunately a bit of polite persistence, combined with the fact I still had their website provided quote and a written quote from a place only charging £445 meant that they decided to give me the cheaper price.
If they hadn't I'd have just gone elsewhere. Even I know £865 for new discs and pads is an absolute rip off even if it is for all 4 wheels.

True, but when I got a quote from a German Car specialist that was only £20 cheaper it seemed reasonable.

Even for a main dealer £865 is taking the piss though when other places will do it for half the price.

This just fell out from underneath my Toyota Yaris. I know absolutely nothing about cars but I think it's the suspension to my rear passenger side.



I don't have any breakdown cover right now as it expired this month and I couldn't afford to renew just yet. But would I be right in assuming that any breakdown cover would only tow it to a garage for me and not actually carry out any repairs?

How expensive is this kind of thing going to be to fix? Assuming it'll also have to be towed to a garage.

That looks like spring and seats from a rear suspension arm.

If you are strapped for cash then you might be able to get the parts you need from a breaker, but you deffo need to replace them regardless. Recovery wont fix it for you, they wont even carry the part - they'll get it to your house or the garage.
