I asked another guy I know his thoughts on this, and at first he said it was the guy overtaking because he was on the wrong side of the road. I then explained that was fine because he's passing in an area with a dashed line. I then had to explain to him what the dashed and solid lines on the road mean. :fp:

These people are out there driving!

Once I explained the lines to him he said "oh then it's the cop right?" :fp: :fp:

Gently-Parted Ringpiece wrote:Guy who hit cop was at fault. Wrong side of road, dangerous maneuvre, not reading traffic properly, failing to react. All his fault. Police not culpable, its reasonable to assume he would not expect traffic flowing at him from the inside, completely fairly.

You should never overtake on the inside edge of a junction anyway.

All of what Ringpiece said.

In other car news, my loan was approved today. Now the hunt for a Legacy Spec B starts properly. Looking for a post-2006 manual. I have £10k to spend.

Wow, I really should have looked at that properly :fp: thought they were solid lines!

Sorry I can't embedd it, on my phone

I say it's the guy who hits the cop, my friend says it is the cop.

My argument is that the cop is signalling and you're not supposed to pass like 8 cars at once when overtaking, if this guy had passed just 1 car at a time he would have seen the signal lights.

My friend says it's the cop because he didn't check his mirrors for people trying to pass him.

People have to ask who is at fault. This probably explains the piss poor driving on our roads today.

Yes?

It is absolutely 100% the guy overtaking who's at fault.

I just found a Legacy site, looks like they have a few sweet ones for sale, worth keeping an eye on.

Cheers - I've signed up there already to ask some advice/keep an eye out.

(Actually, I'm the first comment on that second link you've posted  )

Now he's put more pictures up, I'm really interested.

Yeah your mate is a bad driver, the guy overtaking is a dick and shouldn't be doing what he did.

Dat redline :datass:

What was the context? Did you get to drive it 'properly'?

My wife's dad picked it up a week ago so I took it out on the local highways on Sunday. It's ferociously quick and sounds like it looks like it would. I kept looking at the revs but not the speed and had it up to around 6k in third when I glanced at the speedo and realised that if it was my car my license would last a week at best. I pushed it when I was taking an on-ramp and it's a little scary compared to my RS, you can feel the back end itching to break out.

It's a track focused version of the GT350 so no back seats, carbon fibre wheels, stiff as strawberry float suspension etc so it feels a little caged driving on the road. I'll try to convince him to let me track it.

"Where do you want to get married? Spain? Italy? Any Mediterranean resort? How about those amazing tropical islands we took over?"

"Nah, let's go to the Murica..."

Speaking of which, I really want one of those Mustangs. I also walked past the Tesla showroom a few days ago.
Why must these cars be so expensive?

Do you know which variant you're getting? Make sure it's at least the GT.

So it's looking like this could be the fella.

It's not for sale yet, the owner is waiting on an order for a Golf R. He's just in Edinburgh, so reasonably close to me.

It's a facelifted Legacy Spec B on a 2007 plate. 6spd manual, Very low mileage, about 40k. It's a bit out of my intended price range but it's such a good example I'm going to push the boat out slightly.

It's been safely mapped to 300bhp (280 as standard so it's well within limits), so should be lots of fun. It's only had the one UK owner and he's 53, so hopefully it won't have been thrashed.

There is something to be said for the understated wheels but I would get them swapped out with some of the nicer Subaru ones.

Looks like a nice car though.

I quite like the grey wheels; I guess I'll see how much dosh I've got left over. (Probably none, in fairness - 10k was my limit but he's after 10,750. Worth it, compared to the others I've seen.)
