You can leave them grey or whatever, it was the style I was referring to.

Ah, ok. Just for research purposes, I'm also going to see this one at the weekend. It's down to £8k now and comes with full Sti styling, and suspension/strut brace mods.

Thing is, it's a pre-facelift (same power but worse interior), and an auto, which I don't think I want.

But those wheels are quite sexy

I'd agree with false, noticed the wheels straight off

In saying that I'd keep them grey.

I know. I have regretted that ever since, TBH. It's quite nice on long journeys, but I really do need to hold out for a manual.

I must be wheel blind  They just aren't on my radar much, unless they are excessively big/small or obviously very tasteless.

Out of interest, have you ever driven a car with paddle shifters? Wasn't one of your Rocs a paddle shift?

I won't lie, I have been looking at this one a bit...

The pre-facelift models just have stupid gear select buttons mounted to the front of the steering wheel :dread: but post-2006 they came with paddles. Are they just a gimmick I'd end up not using?

Scirocco was a paddle shift or stick shift, whatever you preferred. If I was in manual mode I used the paddles, but that isnt universal for all paddles as they are all different.

Yeah they are still manual control unless you butt into a software safety threshold, but its not really a manual. I found it was pretty boring to use like that. You cant even pretend its close to changing gear properly.

95% of the time it was in automatic mode as it was just way too competent like that.

OK, cheers, that's what I suspected. I have the 'tiptronic' option on the Forester but I get bored of using it and it just doesn't feel right.

(Also, it's push forward to change up, which is clearly strawberry floating bullshit.)

These ones any better? :slol:

(I am actually buying this car, just need to get it inspected and it's down south which is a bit awkward), but I've put a token deposit down on it. It's £3k cheaper than the other one, albeit with higher mileage. Really couldn't break my budget for the other one.

Looks nice, you get a lot of car for £8k.

Cheers, they're really nice cars. I saw one at the weekend, albeit an older model, and it sounded magnificent, but was an auto and not what I was after.

The one I'm buying has also been tuned to 300bhp and has been completely debadged. I love how much it looks like a totally anonymous estate. Can't wait to get back into a manual again, too.

I like the silver one best. What mileage does the black one have, what year and how many owners?

Yes?

I saw the silver one at the weekend and it was tired inside. Also, it was a pre-facelift so the interior was very dated. It had had the STi parts catalogue chucked at it, though, so had some very expensive extras attached.

The black one is on an 06 plate, 90k with one UK owner. Don't know how many Japanese owners it had previously. They are usually one-owner cars.

Prefer the black one.

Enjoy keeping it clean.

This will mean four of my last five cars have been black. I'll never learn. :fp:
