Yeah I was only kidding, obvs. I dont think I could hack having the same car forever though.

Plus they didnt need to change the Scirocco platform because it was sound first time round. Natch.

How are you finding it compared to the last one anyway?

I've only had it a day and only done about 40 miles but it's a massive leap from my Mk5. Plus it's loaded with tech & options. It has to be said, before I started adding options it was already heavily stacked but I'm very happy with it!

Just seen that new Golf R Estate. Like a junior Audi S4. Lovely stuff.

Abarth is off the list.

Read some user reviews and it's a bit of a banana split to live with, not great for every day use, more of a weekend go out and have a larf type of beastie.

Alfa moves into number one spot at the mo.

That being said, the nissan Juke 190bhp has take my interest, another being the Cactus by Citroen because it looks mental, I kinda like it :shifty: It looks so minimalist inside, reminds me of some scifi movies like Children of Men with the weird lookin cars.

Before getting an Alfa (assuming new) check reviews of dealerships. I always found their aftercare support terrible. Fortunately I had the rare Alfa that worked without problems.

If you use Tesco for your shopping you can get up to 20p off per litre. Last time I filled up the Dodge it was £1.04. :D

Who wouldn't get an automatic? If you live in the city you need one.

I still regret getting a Forester with an auto box. It dulls the acceleration slightly and isn't as savage as the manual versions.

However, it's so much more relaxing and less tiring when you're stuck in traffic. Given how many times I've had to trek up and down the M1/A1 this year, it's been a godsend. Arriving at the far end of a 3hr journey and actually being able to walk is really useful.

Also, it definitely reduces a small part of the stress involved with driving in and around town. ON balance, if someone offered me the ability to drop a manual box into mine tomorrow, with no costs or downsides, I'd take it. No question. But the auto makes a huge amount of sense, especially when it's backed up with a decent amount of power.

The DSG box in the Golf is a decent mid-point, I'd say. I'd happily have one (that Golf R Estate is my new most-wanted car, I think that only comes with the DSG.)

You should try a DSG. Very nice in auto mode and hella fast in manual mode, covers all the bases.

Yeah. Obviously the Forester's auto box was a bit dated, even at the time, but it's ok when you get used to it (ie plan ahead for your overtakes a bit more).

But those new VAG boxes (wahey) of the past couple of generations seem to have been really well received.

I'm not getting a new car for a while but will definitely consider DSG when I do.

The only car I would have hated to drive manual is the Impreza I test drove for the sub £500 challenge this year. strawberry float me that clutch required serious effort. :dread: So glad I went for the strawberry floated BMW which fell apart.
