Wonder how much footage of her there is for the next movie? Or if they will have to rewrite it significantly. I hope there is something of her in it that we get to see.

I think they've finished filming it already.

Get used to it, a lot of entertainment celebrities are approaching the age where these things just happen I'm afraid.

While this is true, you don't expect them all to go within the space of 12 months. We've never seen a year like it for celebrity deaths.

RIP. Genuinely can't believe Princess Leia is dead

And many of them really have left us way, way too early. Bowie? Prince? Alan Rickman? John Berry? Victoria Wood? Caroline Aherne? Greg Lake? George Michael? Too soon, man. Too soon. :(

Wow that's well out of order, too soon bro.

But yes I assume that they did a full CgI of her for rogue one. I'm not actually sure though have they already possibly filmed her parts for ep8? Cant seem to find much info.

Episode 8 has finished filming, I believe.

strawberry float me............................

Of all the deaths we've had to endure in this one of the most strawberry floated up year I've known.....this one has hit me like a sledgehammer.....I've been upset over the constant list of celebs passing away. Really gutted. But today? The passing of Carrie has really done me. I turn 43 tomorrow, but I remember the day my old man took me to watch Star Wars in 1977. Hooked from that day forth. Princess Leia. She was a Princess to me, and always will be!

Call me a sad geek, a twat or whatever, but I've genuinely balled my eyes out. Feels like a family member lost..... :( :( :( :(

That is all.....

Was kind of expecting this news after the time it took to get her to a hospital. Still incredibly sad news, especially at this time of year.

2016 has taken yet another of my favourite celebrities. :(

What can you say anymore? Just an awful year for childhood/teenage heroes.

I think your grief is well justified. I've said this many a time, but I will probably be in right state whenever someone like Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford dies.

Not really much to say that people haven't already said but absolutely gutted by this news. Like so many people I grew up loving Star Wars, loving Princess Leia and many years later it remains a big part of my life. It sounds dramatic but her death feels like a little part of my childhood has died, very sad.

So, either they can re-write Episode VIII and use stand-ins, sound-alikes and digital manipulation to kill Leia (see: that one Fast movie where Paul Walker's last scenes had to be finished post-death), they can kill Fisher's character off-screen and mention it in IX during the opening text and during the film, or they can do that Fast thing in IX and carry on regardless, having Leia play a complete (or perhaps reduced?) role to the end. I would favor either of the first two options, I'd rather not see too much of the uncanny valley as we did with Walker's last scenes - unless they can really perfect the CG thing.
