The game is a sidescrolling beat-em-up in which up to 4 players can play, online or locally. Playing as one of the available knights or an unlockable character, players must defeat enemies to progress using attacks and magic. As enemies are defeated, the characters level up, giving access to new combos and abilities. There are also weapons that can be found and used, as well as animal orbs that assist the players in various ways, such as scouting for items. At the end of a boss battle, players then fight each other in a battle to earn a kiss from the rescued princess.

Other modes include Arena, where players fight each other, and a mini-game called All You Can Quaff

Castle Crashers will cost 1200 MS Points

At the start of the game, the Red, Blue, Green and Orange knights are available to play. Under certain conditions, other characters can be unlocked. The characters below were announced on The Behemoth's Developer's Blog, and names may not be final.

* Red Knight - Can perform lightning attacks.
* Blue Knight - Can perform ice attacks.
* Orange Knight - Can perform fire attacks.
* Green Knight - Can perform poisonous attacks.
* Periwinkle Knight
* King
* Bear
* Saracen
* Thief
* Brute - Can make thorns appear from the ground.
* Ninja - Fires shurikens and uses a mug for defense.
* Skeleton
* Royal Guard - Has a devastating arrow attack.
* Killer Beekeeper - Can send killer bees to attack enemies.
* Peasant
* Alien Hominid - Attacks with a plasma gun lance. Is automatically unlocked for people who downloaded the full version of Alien Hominid HD.

Excuse my ignorance but is this basically a turtles/simpsons etc clone? Why are people so excited about this? I havent been paying much attention to it.

I think it's because it seems to be more than just a side-scroller. It appears to have a pretty deep amount of powers, abilities etc. making it seem like an RPG. Plus the addition of 4 player co-op is something lots of people are gonna have fun with.

I should be getting this as my GF loves Turtles et al. I do think that 1200 is a little steep, but I will still probably get it.

Thats like asking if Resistance 2 is a Halo/Half Life clone, they are the same genre nothing more.

And people are excited because they like that genre and haven't had many games out of it recently.

I think I'll be getting this tomorrow. It should be good fun on co-op, which I'm hoping to take part in tomorrow.
