On now. Tony Robinson hosting it, looks like it'll have ace graphical imagery, telling the story of the catastrophes that made our world by accident and stuff. Tonight, it's all about that Mars-size body that hit us and formed the moon.

Hypothetical planet Theia collided with Earth...

Well, you lot may like acting like complete retards, but I found that show really interesting - I haven't seen any other 'Birth of Earth' shows detailing the role of the huge tides in the creation of life on this planet, I had no idea they even played that much of a role in the beginning, and the part about the moon creating the huge tides, creating friction which slowed the Earth down, effectively sending the moon spiralling further and further out, was great too.

I also found it interesting to hear about the earth's day cycle only being 21 hours early on, and only 6 hours shortly after the collision with Theia, leading to years being quite a bit longer. But how did they not just stop counting the fossilised coral at 365 layers??? How did they realise it was a 410 day year?

I just watched a bit of this on 4+1 - there is a thicker 'layer' caused by a year, and they count the 'days' in it.

I stopped watching- they seemed to say every sentence 3 times, slightly differently. Gimme facts! Not slow sinister music over slo-mo CGI.

I thought it was really good, i also noticed Tony Robinson got some odd looks while talking and gesturing in the street, as the camera was about 60 metres away.
