Nice one EA...

*applause*

You can get it to run on Vista apparently:

EA's website wrote:PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE DOWNLOADING:

-This software contains support for Windows XP/98/Me/95 with installation instructions. This software is not supported by Windows Vista, however there are community driven strategies and tips available for making the software function on Vista which you can find on our various fan-sites.

-To install the software, you will need Winzip or Winrar to unrar the files. These files have also been compiled in to an ISO image. You will need to burn the ISO to a CD for the software to function or use a Virtual CD program to run the installation on your computer.

I take it the whole story around Red Alert is what the world would've turned out like if there was no Hitler?

Yes. Not sure about RA2 but RA3 is apparently what the world would be like without Einstein.

Links to such "fansites" might have been useful.

well I'm on XP and after an hour of downloading, extracting, burning ISO to CD, installing form disc, reading the readme.rtf,- I still can't get it to install. Not that bothered as I probably won't get round to playing it on the PC anyway these days as not enough time.

13 years ago? Christ, I remember picking this up on launch day in Electronics Boutique!

It ran on my Pentium 75 with 16MB of RAM and a 1MB video card :)

Right click setup.exe and run in Compatability Mode (Windows 95). Once installed, copy patch into folder, run patch files, run game.

the patch is part of the download (on XP). When the ISO image is opned, there is a folder called 'XP Patch' I think (not on my PC at the moment) and within that is a patch.exe that when you double click opens up 3 patch__.exe files. 1 of these exe's is the patch that you need to double click on. It's all detailed in the .rtf file included in the download.

Has anyone managed to play this online yet? I don't want to try and get it working if the online no longer works.
