This Sunday, August 31, marks the 13th anniversary of the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert, the classic PC real-time strategy game from Westwood Studios.

To mark the occasion, long-time publisher Electronic Arts is giving away the game for free. EA did not indicate for how long the download will be available, but it will be available all day on the 31st.

The free download, badly-acted FMV sequences and all, will be posted at the Red Alert 3 website, in a promotion for EA LA's upcoming sequel. Red Alert 3 will hit PC and Xbox 360 in October, and those who pre-order the game will also get a free download of Red Alert 2.

They did the same for the original C&C, didn't they? Have to find some links and download them. I've only got the PS1 versions.

Also, pre-order RA3 and get RA2 free? Very generous.

Am I right in thinking RA2 had Ray Wise from Reaper?

Yeah, he was the president. Meant that I couldn't take him seriously in Reaper.

Surely it wouldn't cost EA much to make the download of RA1 vista compatible? instead they just mention that help for vista users can be found on fan sites, they don't even link u or tell u what the help is.

Strange one, have u had any problems with any of the games in the first decade pack?

I couldn't get generals to work after i downloaded the official patches for it.

I just watched the promo video for RA3 on that site
There's a lot of famous actors in there, EA must pay big bucks, also I love the way that every single female scientist/mercenary/secretary/soldier in the RA universe is smoking hot :P

Nope it all works fine. The exception is C&C3 but that's because my laptop is really bad.
