PostChanging Gamertag Regions
by Mactiho » Sat Aug 04, 2012 11:34 pm

I've recently moved to Australia for the foreseeable future, haven't bought a 360 yet (had no space in luggage to bring it with me), however, brought my hard drive and games. Anyone have any idea if its possible to change my gamertag to Australia or am I better off just leaving it within the Ireland region. Will I have to just create a new one? I've had the gamertag for close to 5 years and don't fancy losing it.

Any advice would be helpful!

Cheers

Had a quick google, don't look good.

I'd give M'soft a ring and see what they can do.

Yeah I googled it before I came here, just wanted to see if anyone in the forum had to do it first hand and was there any alternatives to just creating a new one? Thanks anyway mate, now to enjoy the MS customer support for the next few hours!

I haven't done it but I'm sure it can be done. It wouldn't make sense that people would lose their Gamertag to move to another country. Ring up support.

EDIT:

Found this. Lets you change your console region so you get Australian dashboard.

You cannot change the account region (that is set only once) but you can change your language as "I Dashboard It" said. Additionally you can change your console's region (not account's region) by doing the following:
1. Settings

2. System Settings

3. Console Settings.

4. Language and Region

5. Region

6. Change region to the appropriate location.

Keep in mind that your console's region controls what you will see on the dashboard, so if you have the incorrect region you may see advertisements or offers that do not apply to you.
Good luck. :)
