I'll usually make a cute ginger lady because cute ginger ladies are cute. Unless I get bored of cute ginger ladies and make a blue haired potato.

I'll try to represent myself when I can, but the in-depth customization functions of the modern RPG mean that that can take a painfully long time.

I always try to make it look like myself as much as possible, then a way in to the game will wonder why as the whole point is escapism, not to have to look at my own stupid face for 200 hours.

Just read up on Rare's random character creator for SoT. Rather naff for a game of this type. Not having the ability to put a pirate version yourself into the game, just some random Rare created bod? Shame.

If at all possible I try to be a robot or cyborg, I always used to be a robot on phantasy star online, I then try to make the robot what I consider bad ass, if I need to be a human then I make it like me as much as possible.

The real exception is wrestling games were I always try to make my character look like smash or axe of demolition...... Huge huge Demolition fan.

Default for me. Too little time to play the games as it is without spending time creating a face that No one is going to see most of the time.
