Thought this was pretty good - some interesting ideas as always.

Are the past episodes on 4OD? I keep meaning to catch up with this. They are all standalone as well, right? Albeit sharing similar themes.

Yes and yes. Well worth a watch.

Thought White Christmas was superb. Hamm and Spall were both very impressive and well cast. Thematically and emotionally, Brooker nails it. Certainly one of the best Black Mirror episodes, if not the best, although they are all strong.

I thought that was ace. The only issue I had was that the middle segment seemed really weak because there wasn't any reason given why 'it' was better than, for instance, Siri. I mean, I'm pretty sure there are simpler ways to get your toast right. I mean, I get that it was basically just exposition for the finale, but with even just a bit more fleshing out as to why this technology was actually a thing that people would pay more for and it could have stood on own far better

That was incredibly dark but quite brilliant. I guessed that Natalie Tena's character was suicidal and Jon Hamm was interrogating Rafe Spall in virtual reality but surprise Asian baby caught me off-guard. Doesn't really make much sense though that in exchange for helping the police Hamm gets a fate worse than prison.

In terms of previous episodes:

White Christmas> 15 Million Merits> Be Right Back> The Entire History of You> White Bear> The National Anthem> The Waldo Moment

I was expecting AI Oona to go mental and use the house to murder real Oona. That would have been a better ending for that segment than no ending.

Question, no spoilers

Having not seen any of these before can I just watch the latest one? The stories are separate from each other right? I see them advertised every year but have never got around to watching them.

They seem to be set in the same universe but the references to other episodes in this ep are so small it's effectively standalone.

The stories are all separate so you can watch the latest one. All of them are on 4OD so you can watch them there - http://www.channel4.com/programmes/blac ... /series-1/

I thought it was a cool nod that the karaoke song sang by Hamm's girlfriend was the same song from The X Factor in 15 Million Merits.

After the Christmas one, it was ALL the feels, so damn depressing... Imagine what it would've been like if they showed it on Christmas :dread:

Then watched the first two episodes on 4OD, sommat to do over Christmas really...

Why does a woman want a slave version of herself to make toast? Because her copy made damn good toast

The police gave a copy of the murderer hundreds of thousands of years of punishment just because? One policeman did and the policewoman let him do it, it wasn't suggested that that was the actual law. I would imagine in that world that the copies are just considered AI and who gives a gooseberry fool about AI? It was mentioned that copies that lose the plot are put into games, nobody cares about them or thinks that they are "real".

If the two guys were in that hut for years or whatever it was, why didn't the guy ask why he was there? Also, he didn't need sleep or drink so IDGI. He thought he was there for a "job", I would imagine that the simulation was manipulated to make him think he was there working, it was only when he was being questioned he started to think about things.

Who'd trust a guy whose job is enslaving beings? The people in that world don't think of them as beings, they seem them as AI. They are wrong to think so, but they do not know how the copies feel and how often do we think about the people we kill in a video game?

"I'm pregnant, but btw I'm leaving because that's not going to bother you one bit and somehow the authorities are fine with it." If a woman leaves her partner, do the authorities give a gooseberry fool? She was heartless but there is no reason the authorities wouldn't react like that and she could easily prove that the kid wasn't his.

Just too daft. It was enjoyable at times.

I really enjoyed it, it was far fetched, but I think Black Mirror is supposed to be a little far fetched, but close enough to reality to make us think.

From the AI guy's perspective though it was torture. He then spills his story to this evil fiend.

I agree with you 100%, but at the same time people wouldn't give a gooseberry fool about AI. We were looking at the story from the point of view of the AI and so it seems horrific. But people living in that world wouldn't consider them people, they would see them as code.

A U.S. rendition of “Black Mirror,” the British sci-fi series that has been a buzzy hit for Netflix, is in the works, the new leaders of Endemol Shine North America said Wednesday at the Real Screen confab.

The keynote session at the Washington Hilton marked the first major public appearance by Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin since they were tapped co-CEOs and co-chairmen of Endemol Shine North America.

Corwin confirmed that “there is a plan” regarding a U.S. version of the “Twilight Zone”-esque series created by Charlie Brooker and produced by Annabel Jones for Endemol U.K. He declined to elaborate other than to say that Brooker and Jones “have really touched on something and I agree – we need more.”

Brooker has previously said he would be the showrunner on any U.S. series rendition.

If Brooker is running it, it's on cable and are new episodes instead of remakes I'll be up for it,

Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror to become a Netflix show

Exclusive: Sources say the US streaming giant has agreed terms to make original episodes of the hit dystopian drama

Charlie Brooker's dystopian drama series Black Mirror has been snapped up by Netflix, RadioTimes.com understands.

The streaming giant is understood to have agreed terms with Brooker and his independent production company House of Tomorrow to make "multiple episodes” of the dystopian drama, according to sources involved in the negotiations.

Netflix has already shown episodes of the drama, which first aired on Channel 4, in the US. The series has proved a word-of-mouth hit since launching in December, with some fans even holding Black Mirror viewing parties.

As RadioTimes.com revealed in May, Netflix was in talks with Brooker and House of Tomorrow over a possible deal, which has reportedly progressed. It is understood that Brooker is currently writing scripts for a new run of the Channel 4-originated drama which explores the dark and troubling aspects of technology.

So far, Channel 4 has aired two series and a Christmas special of the show and is likely to be keen to acquire future episodes of the drama and be the first UK broadcaster to air them.

12 new episodes confirmed. Going into production later this year. http://variety.com/2015/digital/news/ne ... 201602037/

Seems like whether or not Channel 4 or Netflix have it in the UK and Ireland is still being discussed.
