Bought Arkham Asylum for a tenner in Sainsbury's today. Now I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

One of the managers at the missus' Walmart branch quit his job. Why? The changes coming down from HQ were so morally reprehensible, so disgusting to human decency, that he simply could not in good conscience put them into practice. He'd rather be unemployed.

I know that the "evil corporation" stereotype is tired and not usually true, but I do believe that, ever since Sam Walton (the founder) died, the people running the company are either evil or lack any kind of respect for the well-being of their ground staff. All they want is money, and they don't care if they work people to death if that's what it takes to get it. They'd be cruel slave owners or overseers if they were alive 200 years ago.

Conscience.

And what are they?

'They' are the executives of the company, and they're sadly taking advantage of the very poor American labour laws.

It's exactly the sort of thing I'd fear happening here if unions were abolished and labour laws were given a beating by the tories.

Not who are they, what are they, as in what are the changes? :fp:

We don't know yet, they haven't been implemented. I'm sure I'll write about them here when they come into effect. I'm scared for her though. If it was bad enough that a manager with a conscience felt better about leaving his job than implementing them, it must be pretty awful. :(

So you don't know what they are yet you've already written them off as morally reprehensible?

lol k

Why would anyone quit their job on the basis of avoiding inflicting new policies/procedures if said policies/procedures weren't all that bad? Not even yanks quit their jobs over nothing.

Might as well look for other jobs going, just in case they're that bad.

Perhaps he used it as an excuse to make the jump and leave. I nearly did the same when Wetherspoon changed their opening times to 7am.

Eventually left for other reasons, mainly involving the Isle of Wight festival ( :shifty: ), but still. Don't jump to conclusions.

Should I say goodbye or is there any need since I'll likely be on here tomorrow during one of my many stays in various airports? :shifty:

Anyhoo

To be fair, I've managed some shockers, and at the mere threat of actual work being implemented, they went sick or quit.

Alvin, I hope the changes aren't so bad against you're misuss ideals she feels the need to leave. My bro was looking at what he thought was a mega hammering (change of location, ownership, targets etc) , but it's turned out OK.

How long will you be gone for? Also will there be an Alpha-esque adventure thread?
