Ched Evans is allowed to play football, the debate is whether any club will sign him and if fans of the club should support a decision to sign a unrepentant rapist.

Mike Tyson didn't box for a team so there is a difference there. But there was also huge controversy when he boxed following his conviction and he is still finding it difficult to enter the UK ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/25325977 ).

Does he not just force his way in?

I did think of a working title of a book about aggressive sex, 50 Cheds of Grey.

I haven't quite dared tweet that yet.

I didn't think it would descend into an argument about whether turning up to a hotel where a paralytic girl has gone home with your friend and then having sex with her against her knowledge, constitutes as rape. If they are the facts of this case and how events transpired (and we have to believe they are), then it is definitely rape. There is no argument.

I haven't seen anyone argue that that situation isn't rape.

No, but there's been a wee bit of idiotic 'well, if he raped her, then I'm a rapist/I've been a victim of rape too'.

So the debate over whether he should play again has been derailed by that a little.

Could you clarify, are you referring to me there?

I assumed Poser was talking about this conversation.

Have most people diverted the taxi they were going home in, towards a different hotel room, upon being told that their mate 'had got a bird', let themselves into that hotel room with a key they'd previously been given just in case a 'bird' was procured, then taken over the shagging while their mate made a sharp exit?

Okay, so that is certainly different from saying "If he raped her then I'm a rapist/victim of rape."

I just wanted to check, as my now apparently idiotic comment resulted in Poser himself saying (once the definition of the word tangent had been discussed):
[iup=3618710]Poser[/iup] wrote:I genuinely don't know the answer, but it is an interesting point.

Just seems a bit of a cheap shot to take after the conversation around what I feel to be a perfectly valid and relevant point I raised has finished and I've not posted in the thread since.

Yeah, sorry, you didn't say the 'if he raped her' bit, and I apologise. Shitty on my part.

Edit: Though I would dispute the fact you've now claimed it was a 'relevant' point - either it was tangential, or it wasn't. If you recall, I responded as if you had just made a point relevant to the Ched Thread/discussion, and you disputed that it wasn't...

Fair play, apology accepted.

I would counter that a tangent remains relevant to the wider discussion, in this case being the law where rape is is concerned. Indeed, I would suggest that is precisely what is meant by a discussion tangent. The reason I used the word in the first place was to take it away from the specific case. It doesn't matter, anyway. I just wasn't too keen on creating another thread specifically to discuss whether or not I am technically a rapist/victim of sexual assault :slol:.

Oldham deal is off due to threats to Oldham staff.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30727729
A club director told BBC sports editor Dan Roan that a staff member was informed a named relative would be raped if the deal went ahead.

I think the only way for Evans to get another chance is to rape someone else, admit to it, apologise for it, serve his time and THEN try and sign for a club.

Come on Ched, do the right thing.

Evans has apologised 'For the effects' of his actions.
So hasn't actually apologised for his actions and still maintains he is innocent.

He said: "I wholeheartedly apologise for the effects that night in Rhyl has had on many people, not least the woman concerned"

It's like a murderer apologising for the funeral costs but not the actual murder.

Not all of what you post here is true, but then I have given up on you trying to look at this case in an objective manner.

He claims consent was given. He doesn't claim that having sex with her wasn't wrong (he cheated on his girlfriend, for one thing), he only maintains that consent was given. He is not an unrepentant rapist.

Yes he is. He has not repented for raping a girl. What he claims is not relevent as he was found guilty of rape by a court of law.

Has he repented? No.
