I'd probably class ketchup as the standard sauce for chips, but depending on my mood I can go for mayo, bbq, sweet chilli, garlic mayo, curry or gravy. Ketchup and mayo at the same time is a good mix.

Just salt for me,with maybe the occasional dab of proper chippie sauce(vinegar and brown combination)

1. Didn't combining chips (fries) with mayo come from America?

2. Who the hell under 50 likes vinegar or brown sauce?

1. Its a continental thing I believe, the Dutch in particualr being quite fond of it from what I hear.

2. Lots of people because they are very tasty.

I've been thinking about this and it depends for me on the type of chip.

If it is a proper chip if its a chip shop chip >1cm in size it's just alt maybe vinegar if I'm in the mood,
If is a oven chip <1cm but > 5mm it's mayo,
If its a French fry >5mm it's ketchup.

Putting vinegar on my tongue feels like how I imagine slugs feel when you tip salt on them

if said slugs had a cerebral cortex and could sense pain
