Yeah, not long after New Year is when ours will be gone, too. It feels as though the month has gone so quick.

We took down and boxed up our decorations down yesterday. Feels good.

I always take mine down on the 6th, gives me the ability to have them up as long as possible. Makes my flat feel super cosy and this year the 6th is a Saturday so there's no reason not to. :toot: :toot:

can you do one in early 2024 or is that somehow wrong?

I'll pretend I didn't hear that :capnscotty:

All decorations are being taken down tomorrow

Why not wait until the sixth? :toot:

Christmas is done now, and while we enjoy the cosyness of the decorations (especially the lights) it only serves to make new year more depressing than it already is by reminding that the fun is over (i strawberry floating hate new years eve). Better to pack it away before the horrible back to work feeling arrives.

This! We're keeping ours up until NYE for a change but only because family are visiting. They'd normally be taken down now.

NYE means Christmas is over, not that anything is going to change for the better just because its a new year.

As per usual, will be having a few bottles of wine and hopefully in deep sleep by 12.

I strawberry floating hate NYE, used to be my favourite night of the year but now reminds me I'm old and boring. And we have a rescue dog who loses her mind at all the fireworks.

I hate NYE as well.

I'll just go to bed as my usual time and act like it's nothing. We do not celebrate a happy new month or day, don't we? Daft.

I used to love NYE in my early 20's. It wasn't necessarily about NYE but it was about going out with my mates, having a good time and just getting blind drunk. Good times.

Being 40 now I would rather go to bed early but someone always wants to do something so me and the wife are going round some friends for food and games.

I'm not letting the New Year blues in yet. Reckon it'll start creeping in from tomorrow.

I've felt like a fresher this week, drinking every night seeing different people. Very much on course to be a fully fledged grumpy old man, as last night was my favourite and that was the only one it was just my wife and me.

NYE peaked at the under-18 house party phase. As soon as everyone started going out 'properly' it was crap.

I've never been to a house party. I wasn't a cool kid at school so never got invited to anything like that.

I've never enjoyed New Years Eve, been out round the local town once and it was awful, got invited to a mates house party a few years back and it was far better than going out round town but still just getting drunk, which I'm just not a fan of, if I wasn't working both NYE and NYD I'd probably be up to see the New Year in, as it is I'll probably be woken up by fireworks going off till 1am :fp:

My best NYE ever was 2004 going into 2005. Stayed up all night playing Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines while my parents got pissed downstairs.

When I moved out, they used to insist on ringing me at midnight to celebrate the new year but I quickly shut that bullshit down.

NYE is definitely a load of bollocks. Was invited to a house party this year but wouldn't have gone even if I didn't have my baby to look after.
