People let off fireworks last night around mine just after 12 last night. I'm not sure if they got the wrong day or they were letting them off for some other reason but it was pissing with rain lol.

The kind of people who buy and set off fireworks tend to be thick as strawberry float

I just dislike fireworks even more so these days than when I used to be a kid, only like them on Animal Crossing

The things that annoys me most about them is they're borderline impossible to police regarding the noise laws they're subject to, throughout Bonfire week we regularly had them going off past 11pm when its only a handful of nights they're allowed till 1am, during the summer we even had them going off at 1am one night, but even if you reported it, sod all would get done, as how can you prove who set the fireworks off? The litter they create is another bugbear of mine, of course people can't collect their spent rockets as they have no idea where the hell they land after they're shot into the air and blown away in the wind as they land somewhere.

What a wonderful way to bring in the new year though, getting woken up at midnight by a firework before going to work at 3:30am

Christ what do you work as?

I've started blasting tunes, thankfully have a couple of big speakers and have apologised to the neighbours in advance. Seems to drown them out sufficiently, just need to skip any quiet parts of songs

Retail, glad you've found a good way to drown out the noise, tried that with our dog on Bonfire Night and she could still hear them.

I always get post Christmas blues, even if I've had a fairly gooseberry fool Christmas. It's completely illogical, I think it's a vestige of my childhood, where I'd be deeply unhappy for weeks after the Christmas break.
Anyway, I'll be in bed by 9 tonight, providing the kids are asleep.

They started at about 1pm here in broad daylight, strawberry floating dumb as gooseberry fool.

I've heard a bunch of insanely loud bangers go off the past 2 days at all times.

The occasional rocket. But mostly just trying to cover my leaking windowsills/sash windows with black plastic. Then a strawberry floating wall of rain I could literally see as it approached me, like some kind of cloud of locusts, came off the beach around midnight so I don't think many fireworks were going to survive as I was absolutely drenched instantly.

So if they got the wrong day somehow jokes on them.

I ran inside to get an electric staple gun to get plastic on because this is the last time these strawberry floating windows are leaking and have to wait a week for the raintstorms to stop. Tape was not going to work :slol:. After switching jackets I left my keys inside so at 1am trying to beat this weather arriving I had to wake someone up to answer the door or I'd be liquid within 5 minutes. Whoops.

My cohabitating living partner person (complicated) has a bad cold so just doing a fry up and ice cream and beers for new years. They made noodles. Can't be arsed to be honest, but still think about going out every couple of minutes, and then remember work hits hard on the 3rd and have other gooseberry fool to do (like damp sealing).

Hopefully 2024 is better. For me possibly the worst on record for 2023, topped off/ending with family death and a whole load of other gooseberry fool things, but I vaguely remember feeling worse even if the conditions weren't.

Haven't heard any fireworks here yet this evening, though the weather is pretty shite so i suspect a lot of people have chosen to stay indoors.

The neighbours set off fireworks outside the building at 6 (I think it was 6 anyway). I haven't heard any more since
