I'm having this problem tonight too. I hadn't experienced a single crashe but now it crashes everytime I try to load a game. :(

I'm in the same situation. I get a crash that forces me to restart my laptop while attempting to load a saved game. Incredibly frustrating. I'm in the late 1800s of my first game still. I'll be livid if I can't finish this.

Yeh you're basically at the same point as me, it would be very annoying.

I'm starting a new game as Gilgamesh in the mean time. But still. I want to finish my other game!

Looks like it could be a problem with Windows defender.

I've added my steam folder to the exclusions list, and was able to load my save again.

I've still had to listen to Sean Bean read that Civ intro four times in a row now, though. :x

You can skip it and there's an option in the game to never have it play.

Playing a second game on Large, Fractal map on King has felt a lot better than my first. In part it's because I'm in the middle ground of Science and Culture as Japan so I can pretty much just relax knowing there's nothing I can do to stop a rampant England who are already in the Modern Era in the 1500s.

Just wiped out China though, so maybe I'll just do things the hard way.

I've found the warmonger diplomacy stuff confusing as hell, anyone else feel it only applies to you rather than the world as a whole?

Hard to tell in my game, everyone seems to hate everyone.

I'm completely addicted to this.

I wouldn't mind it normally, but that's good to know.

After fixing the load save crash last night, I got the crash on exit problem again. The game hangs as you try to exit to desktop, an the only solution was again to force my laptop off. :x

I get the crash on exit to desktop, but I fix it by opening task manager and closing the game through the process.

I thought this sequence of events was kind of amusing in my game.

China: Greetings! We'd like to visit your capital.
Me: Sure, no problem.
*China arrives*
China: I like your wonders. We have a wonder, too. And it's better than all yours combined.
Me: Ok, thanks.
*China leaves*
China: strawberry float you. [denounces for having more wonders]

I like that they were trying to play the nice guest, showing just a little flash of jealousy, but then when they got home presumably went into a tea-table flipping rage.

I was thinking the Spanish theme sounded familiar and realised it was this.

Finally reached victory in my first game today, I had an enormous cultural lead on everyone else so it was only a matter of time. King difficulty seemed pretty easy, I could have won any way I wanted except religion which I basically ignored. I'll try a domination victory next I think, on Emperor.

Here is something I don't get. If you go into a joint war with someone (in this case I' instigated the joint war) how come your war buddy still thinks you are a warmonger?

I mean me and Pedro are palls just now... but when the war ends I am going to have a -27 'friend' points deducted even though he agreed to go to war with me.

-Also find it strange that we can do a joint war but I can't choose the cause... As in, I'd have declared a Holy War as it halves my warmongering penalty

The warmonger penalties do seem completely daft. Trajan and Tokimune both started unprovoked surprise wars on me (a peaceful, cultural society, honest m'lord) and then had the barefaced cheek to call ME a warmonger, just because I squashed their puny armies. :x

Sounds like I might want to wait for the first game-changing expansion pack to play this.

There are definitely some minor things wrong with it so if you're not itching to play then waiting for an update that fixes some of these might be sensible.

Having said that, I still think it's bloody brilliant, in case I hadn't made that clear already...

I'll probably get into it as and when I get it, likely Christmastime, but I worry that old niggles from V (like constant denouncements) are going to leave me cold to the larger game.

I think it's much better than V. Admittedly I didn't play much of V as only bought it about a month ago, but I definitely prefer this.

Also I hope there's a better map editor for this than V. Something I can just import a map into and edit from there if I want to.
