I bought Civ V from Steam for a bargain price but barely started it because I was too scared of it swallowing up my life when I had work to go to. The promise of VI is that the gameplay will be refined further. I might just jump straight to it.

But what are you all thinking about the graphics? To me stylistically they seem different, less sim-like and a bit more cutesy. Kind of halfway between Civ V & Godus.

I like the style, there's a lot more detail and a lot more colour too. It's not super duper cartoony like that last Age of Empires though; it's occupying that happy middle ground, a bit like Zelda U - sitting between Wind Waker on the one hand and Twilight Princess on the other.

Day 1 Purchase, I look forward to sinking in hundreds of hours but never being man enough to play above the King difficulty.

I hope the specs aren't too over the top, I only just built a new computer with mid-upper range components that can handle Civ 5.

I'll be going straight from Civ IV to this, looking forward to it.

I'm slightly concerned that they're releasing Civ VI so soon after announcing it, especially after the buggy state XCOM2 was in at release - I don't trust 2K to allow Firaxis enough time to iron out any bugs before launch.

Although I suspect they've been beavering away on this for some time, hence the lack of any major patches for XCOM2 (some people still can't get it working).

Can't wait for this. So happy it's coming out as soon as October  I had given up on anything earlier than summer next year.

£49.99 pre-order price? Bloody hell, I'll give it a few weeks after launch I think. Both for some bug fixes and a price drop.

It'll be available somewhere for £30 and under before launch I'd have thought.

Might end up getting a SE version though if they do anything like the one they did for V.

I was reading an article on Civ V not that long ago (thought it was on Eurogamer but I can't find it now), anyway its now the longest wait between numbered Civilization games we've ever had...don't think they've rushed it.

I've not played Civ V but what I'm reading about this sounds really good! Hope they can pull it off in a balanced way.

You should be fine. Mine was mid/high 4 years ago and I could just about run XCOM2. Hoping that's an indication that I might be ok with Civ 6 too, at least for the smaller maps.

Some really interesting gameplay information in here, especially regarding city spread and how that will affect combat.

Also, worker automation is right out. Building improvements is now instant, but each worker you construct will have a limited number of uses before you need to build another.

Can't wait to build some sprawling metropolises.

Not sure if I like the sound of how they have changed workers...

But we'll see

I'm quite looking forward to improvements not taking forever in the early game when you play marathon speed.

That is true.

But the whole worker capturing warfare was my favourite kind of warfare, and now that seems less viable.

I'm not sure I like the sound of tougher barbarians, though. They've always been a massive nuisance that I've not really enjoyed, especially when you find a few camps still hanging around long into the late game.
