I am certainly enjoying this (just about into the final third or so of my first game against all AI and coming towards the second third of my first online multiplayer game).

There are several improvements I would suggest so far:

Improved AI, particularly in battle, is an absolute must.

I would love to be able to zoom in further, even just one more notch, although I appreciate that particularly on lower graphics quality settings this might not be desirable.

Enable some way of pausing the multiplayer timer if agreed by all.

Fix trading. It simply isn't working right now.

Stop the AI from offering stupid amounts of money, luxury resources etc in exchange for peace after having gradually squandered what should have been a comfortable victory in war (see point one).

Reduce the barbarian shitstorm in the early game.

Stop leaders from denouncing people for frankly stupid reasons ('Your Civilisation is not productive enough').

Multiplayer timer? How the hell do I turn that on!

I quite like the 'barbarian shitstorm'. :slol:

Generally agree with the rest though.

This one's tied to the new traits system, though, isn't it? I quite like it, even if it is a bit broken at times.

Harald Haradra keeps praising me for my strong navy, even though I only have three ships, because he's the least technologically advanced Civ in the game, so everyone has a better navy than him.

Saladin also had a go at me because I was spiralling into debt and was going to end up broke. I was making 180 gold per turn.

Another thing I have noticed is that City states don't update their units. its the strawberry floating 1980's in my game and there are still warriors and pikemen.

Pikemen, I can understand... (I sometimes pretend that they are ceremonial guards or very enthusiastic reenactors)

but warriors?! WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!

Meanwhile, Barbarians spawn Anti-tank crews.

Really? If anything it needs to go the other way and allow you to see more of the map on the standard (not strategic) view.

Things I think need changing include:

Add keyboard keys to zoom in/out

Make UI text easier to read, I can't read the civilopedia due to the tiny dark text on the dark background

Better load times

Show civ scores in singleplayer

Add a restart option to the pause menu

Cythia are broken as alll hell. I just won a domination victory in 110 turns on epic speed by just spamming cavalry and selling them to buy buildings when my standing army was too big to fail.

I've read about issues with selling units, sounds like they just need to tweak some values there.

I get a notification that the USA is about to win a culture victory.

I desperately race around to the other side of the map with three units. He's defending his only city with two pikemen and a battering ram.

Confused, I check the victory page. The USA is in last place for everything, including culture. I take Washington DC in one move.

:|

Edit - I should add this was around the year 2000.

This has nothing to do with Civ but I wanted to post somewhere the excited-toot-crew would see it.

Me, to important senior academic: I saw your email about x.
Prof: Oh, good! What did you think?
Me: It looks exciting :toot: ! I'm excited :toot: !
Prof: Err... well, great!

 :fp: :dread: It just came out, y'know? I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut.

I didn't say toot (could you imagine? ) but I think I probably did make a kind of toot-esque "^_^" facial expression.

Brilliant... that's worthy of a post-of-the-week award  l

I did recently type "toot!" in a text message to my sister. GR memes are escaping into real life ( :toot: ).

Anyone else struggling to really fall in love with this?

I am finding the final third of games in particular to be a huge letdown, for various reasons.

Definitely yes, the game isn't bad but it just hasn't grabbed me like Civ V did, maybe after it gets patched and some DLC is released it'll improve things.
