Not as bad as Bright, but still terrible. Reading around it seems they decided to make it a Cloverfield film mid-way through production (it's original title was The God Particle) and that all of the Earth storyline was done in reshoots. It was deemed 'unsalvagable' by Paramount, sold to Netflix for a profit then made part of an elaborate release stunt as Netflix didn't want to pay for any marketing ( https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/h ... ox-1082305 )

strawberry float though. I can't get over how bad Chris O'Dowd was in this. He was literally playing Roy from the IT Crowd. In space. With no arm.

Didn't realise the first film was on Netflix. Watching it just now and forgot how strawberry floating irritating all the characters are.

Agree with this! I mostly enjoyed paradox. I thought it suffered from some obvious cliches (crazy scientist on the news was right!), especially at the start of the film, but once it started getting weird when the central premise kicked in I was very interested. Some parts worked better than others (woman in the walls good, Chris O'Dowd's arm being comically stuck bad) but most of it was cool, like the table football players changing colour.

Some parts definitely seemed like they were meant as tributes to Alien also. The Russian full of worms was acting like he was about to have a chestburster, and the climax sees the single female survivor of the crew ejecting the person hunting her out an airlock.

I did find the end quite unnecessary, trying to tie it into the Cloverfield franchise. Gratuitous monster shot especially.

...okay I take it back, ban request
