Should be fine, it doesn't seem like it will crossover with the main show and you can learn the rules of the world along with the characters.

I've heard it's meant to be a lot more slower paced than The Walking Dead? More of a drama then anything.

That's exactly what the pilot was. There was very little zombie in it.

Just watched it and think it's pretty good, really like how nobody actually knows just how bad things are going to get, I can't see any of the characters surviving that long.

Decent debut, maybe slightly slow but was expecting that.
Slightly surprised it centered so much on 4 characters. Main 4 cast was good with not too much annoying teens (yet), maybe there could have been more of a reaction from all the zombie stuff at the end.

A doc that was shown with the AMC story sync, indicates as well as the old guy being rushed off in the hospital that the medical profession knew about the virus - http://images.sync.amctv.com/wp-content ... -e4908.pdf

Really enjoyed that. Kim Dickens.

Excellent score. Same guy who does the music for Halt and Catch Fire so no surprise I suppose.

‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Debut Ratings Draw 10.1M Viewers, Shatters Cable Records

Few spinoffs or “companion series” as AMC likes to call it, have been as anticipated as Fear The Walking Dead. Well, anticipation of the new show’s August 23 9 PM debut translates into 10.1 million viewers with 6.3 million among adults 18-49 for a 4.9 rating. Proving the power of the brand, the viewership and demo results are both the new high for any premiere in cable history, according to Nielsen.

Now apples to apples are hard here but compared to the premiere of the mothership The Walking Dead, which had 5.35 million total viewers and a strong 2.7/7 demo rating for its October 31, 2010 launch, FearTWD is already a big hit. Of course, 2010 is a whole other era in terms of TV viewing patterns and in terms of the now blockbuster TWD. The record-breaking Season 5 opener of TWD on October 12 last year had 17.3 million total viewers and 11 million among the 18-49s for 8.7 rating. The Season 5 finale of TWD drew 15.8 million viewers on March 29 with 10.4 million in the demo resulting in a 8.2 rating.

I thought that that was a very strong opening episode, great drama, an ominous overtone shadowing everything.

I shouted at the telly quite a bit when the step dad went to investigate the scene of the zombie attack at night. Jaysus.

Well that was brilliant. Far classier than it's sibling show, brilliant soundtrack, terrific cast (the Nick character was brilliant, he could play a young Hunter S Thompson if he wanted) and nailed the tone. Hopefully it keeps this quality.

AMC is producing a half-hour special that will tell a stand-alone story which will debut online along with unfolding in chapters during the adverts in The Walking Dead on AMC, this will lead into season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead -

The Walking Dead to show airline zombie attack in stand-alone special

Exclusive: Mysterious new character to be introduced via stand-alone content

What if an episode of The Walking Dead was set on a passenger airliner before civilization had fallen?

That’s basically what AMC is planning in a highly unusual — if not totally unprecedented — new special that’s set during the time period of the hit drama’s companion series, Fear the Walking Dead.

Here’s the plan: EW has exclusively learned AMC is producing a half-hour special that will tell a stand-alone story following a group of passengers facing a walker attack on an airline while in flight. One character who survives that encounter will then join the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in season 2.

Previously, AMC has had stand-alone The Walking Dead online web series, but the network never used such content to introduce a new character before they joined the show. The airline attack story will debut online, and will unfold this in chapters that will air during Walking Dead’s on-air telecasts. In other words: You’re watching The Walking Dead, AMC cuts to commercial break, then you get a chapter in the as-yet-untitled stand-alone airline attack drama.

I didn't really like it that much. The for shadowing of the drug addicted son walking around like a zombie was just bad.

Hopefully it gets better in the remaining episodes now that it has got the whole Hey look! I am The Walking Dead thing out of the way.

Is anyone outside of BT picking this up for showing in the UK? If not, hopefully it will turn up on a Netflix region sooner or later.

I'm sure I read that Amazon prime had signed up a global deal, I think it will appear in the UK after Xmas allowing AMC to have first run in the UK.

Edit here's a story on it, just says next year for UK. Austria and Germany, now.

And a great second episode, too! I love that it's much bigger in scale than TWD and every episode changes location a lot. Although, they'll probably spend the rest of the season in one location in the strawberry floating desert, now :fp: One thing that's pissing me off, though, is that nobody in this world (nor The Walking Dead's) can give a straight answer to a simple question about what's going on. They either stare blankly, delay the answer til later or give some vague response that answers nothing. It drives me crazy. Just strawberry floating tell them! It would take 10 seconds to do so!

No episode next week because of Labour Day weekend in the States :fp: I love it when shows go on hiatus after two episodes.

Amazing second episode, this is everything I've ever wanted to see from a zombie show. The locations, music no pacing are all superb.

Like chalky just said I wish someone would say what's going on, though tbf if it happened you probably wouldn't believe yourself saying it.

Love it. And no episode next week? Ffs :x

Good episode, wasn't a fan of the episode opening with Alicia walking in the middle of the road just after her bro got run over. The head teacher getting his head bashed in was noticeably less graphic than the usual Walking Dead, maybe they'll crank that up. Knife kid coming all that way for a terrible knife was a bit strange as was them leaving with no food. Despite all these complaints still really enjoyed it and eager to see what happens next.
