PostCobra Kai - The Karate Kid tv sequel - E1&2 available for FREE now!
by Venom » Wed May 02, 2018 6:00 pm

YouTube have bought the rights to The Karate Kid and have made a sequel in the form of a television series. Episodes 1 and 2 are available now for FREE .

So I'm a big fan of the first two Karate Kid movies, besides being great to watch they hit all the right eighties nostalgia notes. But I admit I was a little saddened to learn YouTube were making this because some sequels are not good because they don't take the story in the direction you'd expect.

I've been watching the trailers and it does seem interesting enough that I want to give it a chance. The story focuses on the movie antagonist, Johhny Lawrence and his life showing him in a more sympathetic light (How I Met Your Mother?). Unseen footage filmed for the original movie is used. I will watch the first one tonight!

I liked it.

Will probably buy the remaining episodes.

Are these going to be available to uk customers? When it was originally announced it was only mentioned as being on YouTube red but that’s not rolled out here yet.

You can watch it all for free in the UK.

Lol, there's a Easter egg when you pause the video.

Ah, probably just two episodes the 3rd one is listed as £1.89. Ah, I thought it was all going to be free.

I thought I saw all the episodes were free, perhaps YouTube messed up and fixed it after.

I watch the first two and was pleasantly surprised. I expected Johnny and Larusso would be caricatures of the movies characters, in fact they were a respectful continuation. Both were where you would expect them to be 30+ years later. Neither is the bad guy. I like that Johnny's old car and taste in eighties rock showed him living in the past. There was also a nice salute to Mr Myagi actor Pat Morita. I'm hopeful for the rest!

Text appears saying "wax off" when you pause and then a hand appears and wipes it away, then more text appears when you hit play saying "wax on" then the hand wipes it away

I watched the first two episodes and would pay for it but wish I could get a bit of a discount rather than paying 1.89 an episode.

Edit: I guess 15 quid is alright but it's a bit of a pisser when you can just get a sub to youtube red in the states.

Ta. Maybe that’s PC specific, I watched on PS4 and that never saw it.

I wanted to get straight into episode 3 but thought £15 for a rental is a bit much. They will likely be shared online soon.

It's not a rental it'll stay in your youtube account indefinitely.

Wait, isn't Karate Kid that movie where the kid only won at the end by using an illegal move that should've disqualified him?

That's a plot point in the show.

Oh, well that's cool then. I was wondering if it'd come up or if they'd just kinda forget it ever happened.

You might like this video Alvin. It perfectly demonstrates that, maybe, there is no real wrong or right - just different perspectives!

That was great. Reaching in some areas, but not so much in others.

I'd forgotten that Johnny was very sportsman like and humble at the end by handing over the trophy to Danny.

It was an illegal kick as well. Danny should have been disqualified.

Makes sense that Danny has grown up to be an arrogant prick, using his false win over a humiliated Johnny to boost his career.

I know it was illegal, but why wasn’t it shown as such in the film?

The series has started pretty well, although i dont think johnny is good/ daniel is bad.
