PostCogs - An amazing Puzzle Game
by Alpha eX » Sat Mar 21, 2009 9:13 am

Watch to see at least a few of the puzzles before casting it off, very clever!

Cogs is a sliding tile puzzle, where players must move pieces around a grid in order to align a series of pipes, cogs and mixtures of the two. While that may sound rather boring, it's the way Lazy 8 Studios have put it all together which makes Cogs so enjoyable.

And so difficult, too! The video above starts off by showing the simpler, linear-plane levels, but just check out some of the later, crazier puzzles to get an idea of what you'll be dealing with. It's extremely polished and brain-bogglingly good fun.

Cogs will be released through Steam "at the latest early april", most likely for $9.99 according to the Lazy 8 guys, so I'm going to play it a little longer before I give you my verdict. Head over to the official site to grab a few more details.

This game looks amazing, watch the video, the puzzles just get better and better, a lot of thought has gone into this, the presentation is incredible. I think it would work very well on the DS, like Rittai Picross, where you spin the puzzle round to solve it.

I think this will be the first PC game I've bought in ages.

Looks fantastic! I can't believe how much depth they've got out of the sliding tile puzzle.

I was obsessive with my Picross play before, with the DS version always being with me where ever I went. So I expected this to be good right. Started it before I went bed the other day at 11pm and stopped playing at 3am.

It's phenominal, trully addictive and oddly enough, the amount of patience I have for this is a lot more then the original style picrosses, i'm really taking my time with each puzzle, thinking more then taking crazy guesses - I've been showing it off to everyone at work. One colleague is getting this and a DSi next (well a DSi on release and importing this)

I'm really enjoying the 3D Picross Puzzles, it's like exploring while solving a puzzle, looking around the object for clues is great fun. I imported both Picross games, another obsessive picross player, I even made my own version

Anyone reading this should buy Rittai Picross, £31, free shipping. Mine arrived in 4 days, it's also marked as gift so no customs.

How hard is rittai picross to understand without any knowledge of japanese? Really love the picross game on DS and could do with a new fix of picross joy!

No knowledge of the language what so ever. If there was I'd never had spent 20 odd hours playing it :D

That video looks good, but I'm not a big fan of slide tile puzzles, so Cogs would do my head in.

Heads up people. This game (Cogs) is due to be released in approximately two (2) hours through Steam. It'll be priced at $9.99/£whatever.

There's just enough time to wash your face in preparation.

How much is it going to cost? I'm not the biggest fan of sliding panel games so I don't think I will get that much play out of it. Looks pretty interesting though.

$9.99/£6.73

Not sure if they do direct currency conversions for pricing however, it might be bumped up to £6.99 or something.

Probably £9.99 since it's on Steam, if it is, one of the PC boys will be here to tell us why we're not getting screwed and how we're being pety over the sake of a few pounds.

It's up at £6.99. Gosh.

(Indie games are generally very fairly priced on there)
