You shouldnt have known he was their spy! Im guessing a lot of behind scenes discussion occured. :fp:

No the spy made a mistake by posting something in the thread giving him away. 8-)

Explain? I am a little disapointed the game ended so quickly but I knew it was a possibility. Im a bit sad you guessed it on first attempt though. It was hard to balance the gameplay to make it possible without being totally random.

Oh US Code was SXW and mcjihge2 was the spy (still dont know how the soviets knew that though?)

There was nothing in the rules to say that the Russian Spy couldn't work together with the Russians, though!

mcjihge2 actually had a brilliant plan, but we never needed to implement it in the end. We'd been talking behind the scenes all the time, the stuff in the thread was just to let the US think we were falling to pieces, so they didn't do anything hasty that could steal victory from us.

I think the codes should have been more complex maybe and maybe we should have received new clues via our spies every few days or something rather than having all the info from the start etc. It could be a really good forum game though and I'd like a bit more interaction with the other team because it seemed like there were two groups playing two different games.

Clever, but what was his plan and how did u know code straight away. The clues gave you letters 1 and 2 but how did you get the final digit?

Like I said this was a first attempt at a new style of forum game. I appreciate all suggestions. Your right a longer code is needed, and yes there should be some way to interact more with other teams, possibly through the spies. It may take a bit of fine tuning and balancing but I hope it has been somewhat enjoyable (although short).

It needs far bigger teams otherwise the daily lynchings will always end it early...

Wrong your next guess according to our spy was wrong too :P

Thanks for the game Daz i think with a bit of tuning it could be a pretty cool forum game :)

yeah i was pondering about the lynchings, perhaps make it every few days rather than each day. It was a bugger to balance the game to be honest. I thought long and hard about how to make it fair for each team, clue wise etc. The spies could have been really influential. I think teh Bork may have given himself away with a desperate reveal of code letter 10mins before deadline :fp: perhaps he should have created a new clue, or used a letter that would be influenced by the code. mcjihe2 was clever by playing the "no info so im innocent strategy".

Well, mcjihge2's plan was for him to let someone he "trusted" know that he also had a clue, but didn't want to say anything because of how it would make him look like a spy.

Then a random while later one of us Russians would blunder into the thread and start "panicking" about being alerted that one of our team mates had a third clue, that revealed the spy had a "manipulative ability". Hopefully making mcjihge2's reveal seem trustworthy, throwing into doubt the US clues and buying us a while to work on our code more. We were hoping to throw doubt on the "But a Soviet's name might be" clue, since that bit at the end made it seem a bit wonky. It would have eventually ended with mcjihge2 being found out, but this game is just about buying time so it would have been perfect for doing that.

As for the clue, finding out that Bork was the spy removed his letter from the equation, and proved Tennant's innocence. That left us with only two possible code answers, OTF and OTR. Bork mentioned R once in the thread, so I thought OTF was a better choice for tonight.

We kept all this secret in case Bork alerted one of you guys, and we never mentioned the code we intended to use because you would figure out how close we were to getting it if Bork had told you our code. By watching the thread, you were still messing about with your code and hadn't yet planned to use W in the right place, so if you kept the code order you were talking about we'd have two days to get our code right, and we only had two possible choices so...

Thanks! :D maybe cold war 3 will be better  I tried to make it complex yet easy to follow. Not an easy feat to accomplish. I was wondering about longer codes and having some pieces that no one knew, maybe introduce them later as a reward for mini team challenges. A lot of potential. If anyone wants to improve the idea please do!

It'd be good to extend the code and get some cross-team chatter going on.

I was thinking of a way to improve it, but it would probably be best as an experimental spin-off.

How about, say 20 players, of 10 Russians and 10 Americans, TRAPPED IN A VILLAGE (Totally original, right?)! Basically you don't know who anyone else is (special roles would mix this up, obviously) and each day you have to vote in a President to lynch someone. The Americans want to vote in a US President to lynch Russians, and vice versa.

Something about team games, where you have to try and compete while not revealing your side?

There could be a single code, but it's split between the US and the Russians, so you have to try and figure out who is who and then infiltrate the other side? That could end up being too complex though, I suppose.

That's as far as I got, so if someone wants to add to that go right ahead.
