I see House of M is cheap on Comixology.

Is it any good?

Yeah, I was really impressed with it actually. Price is $1 cheaper if you wait until the next month to get an issue. They also have 99c sales every now and again and you can try the first issues of some titles (mostly indies) for free.

.

yep i thought those price reductions were ace. well worth the wait. No postage either so a lot cheaper for me.

Having started to get a couple of print titles after the new 52 I find I just dont have the space for more stuff. Im in the process of converting all my music to digital. I have an iPad and downloads would be more convenient but I want to know that my purchases are permanent so I can re-download whenever and forever.

Are the DC, Marvel and Comixology apps linked? as in buy from DC and access via Comixology? Also how financially stable is it?
Chew and Elephant Men have already piqued my interest so I can see myself getting some of them. I think I've been overdoing the Super Hero stuff of late and fancied a bit of weird instead, they definitely fit the bill.
Been trying to pump elephantmen and chew on here for ages. I get both in collected editions. The 5 hardbacks released so far for elephantmen have been great reads and great books. Same with the 2 chew omnivores released. Space though for comics, novels etc is a huge issue. I have 8 long boxes full and 5 smaller boxes. The comics are mainly from the 90's before a 10 year break and now I collect graphic novels/collected editions.

Give locke and key a go if you liked chew and elephantmen.

Just read Crossed (my sleeping pattern is retarded) and I can honestly say that it was a lot better than I expected. However that really wasn't much of an achievement given that I thought it was a porn book the first time i encountered it.
It also seemed to become easier to stomach as it went on, basically becoming a more affecting book as the shock factor faded if that makes any sense.
Oh and that watchmen grope cover  :fp:

They are indeed linked. I bought from the DC app before realising i hadn't signed into my comixology account. I then signed in and it synched them and i can now view them on any other device with comixology.

The stability is the only bit that worries me too but i've taken the plunge.

I quit reading it after Family Values. It was okay but I got sick of the concept (the fact someone else was writing it didn't help matters). If Ennis ever returns to it I may give it another go but I hope he does something new for Avatar instead of treading old ground with Crossed or Chronicles of Wormwood.

It's alright, but I've never really been a fan of the big X-Men events other than Second Coming.

Yep, as Fishy says, the DC and Comix ones are linked. The Marvel specific app isn't but you can get Marvel comics on Comixology (seems like the same offers are there too).

I wouldn't say that financial stability was an issue just now, with to being fairly new, no one really knows. I can see it taking off though, seems like it's a lot more convenient for a lot of people.

There's a thread about it here, some interesting pro and con points made:

http://bullpenbulletinspodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=13557.0

I've never used the forum, just found it on a search but they seem like a knowledgeable bunch. The fact that you don't get to actually own the file initially put me off but I'm willing to look past it for cost and convenience. Any special or rare stuff that I want, I can still buy in print. Assuming I can get my hands on it, of course!

Heh, thanks. I remember seeing recommendations for them on here before but I couldn't remember who from. I'll give Locke and Key a look too.

Have you read Severed? That was another freebie. Even though it was by The Almighty Snider, I wasn't 100% taken with it. Maybe just needs a second read.

Decided to give Invincible a go and I've found it very good so far. I cracked the biggest smile when I came across this page:

Packing up comics for a move at the end of the month and found The Twelve first hardcover. Never read it before (it was still sealed). I enjoyed it, reminiscent of a lot of things that I've read before (Watchmen and the forgotten heroes is the most obvious point of reference, The Order in the tales of each individual) but I will be buying the next trade when JMS finally gets off his bum and finishes it.

Also I'm on to dropping some of the DCU-52. Already dropped the Flash, Blue Beetle is next (the series just feels like a rehash of the last series, but with less interesting art and/or character moments) and several others (Frankenstein, Batgirl) are on the bubble.

I picked up the first 5 hardcovers of Invincible cheap - I found I really liked it. Atom Eve is a great character and the stories have a very Spider-Man feel. Just awaiting the 7th hardcover now - will be out this year at some point.

Mainly reading trades of The Boys and Unwritten. I don't think The Boys won't survive the completion of it's major story arc though, and Unwritten clearly isn't meant to be a long term series.

You think the comic will get canned before hitting its final issue?

They're up to issue 63 right now and a quick search online says it's intended to be a 72 issue series.

It's not my favourite Ennis series, but when gooseberry fool gets interesting every now and then it leaves you speechless (I can see why DC wanted nothing to do with it). The other big shame about the series is Darick Robertson not being a regular on it.

Absolutely not. I meant that it can't carry on once the Butcher/Homelander explosion happens. It's now such a central concept that any thoughts of extending the series would see it run out of steam. It's already starting to drag its heels a little in trepidation for that showdown.

Ah, I understand now. Yeah, you're probably right on all fronts there (especially seeing as there are only nine issues to go - if Wikipedia is correct). What gets to me is how not only has the proper confrontation between Butcher and Homelander been held off for so long but the same has happened with Homelander and that guy from Vought-American. But I can't complain too much when I also take into account some of the revelations we've seen. Looking forward to the climax.
